the ubuntu way of managing passwordless users is not through the use of
empty passwords (which are dangerous as they will also allow free access
to the machine services like ssh for that account), but using locked
passwords (which will look like the account is disabled in gnome users
settings) but
I also realize that a workaround for this is to change
"disable_lock_screen" to "true" in the gconf-editor, but this still does
not solve the problem.
