I've recompiled the debian sid version and install the deb's. That
similarly does not work.
Will try to revert the budgie-desktop Sundry menu category handling to
see if that is the issue.

I've recorded two long hangs for you and your team to analyze.
Please find attached longhangprevboot.txt and longhangprevboot2.txt.
The only difference between the two is that longhangprevboot.txt followed
the following timeline:
normal mode -> restart to long hang -> restart to
Can confirm that a reversion of the Sundry menu changes in budgie-
desktop has no impact on this issue.
This is something very specific to the changes made gnome-menus - not
the ubuntu specific patches, but the debian modifications/upgrade
