I had a W520 that had that issue, but it disappeared after I upgraded to
the latest nvidia driver from their site. Can you guys either try the
Nvidia installer for 346.47 or use xorg-edgers PPA for the latest nvidia
package?

The IM framework environment variables XMODIFIERS, GTK_IM_MODULE,
QT_IM_MODULE, QT4_IM_MODULE, and CLUTTER_IM_MODULE aren't being properly
set by the Upstart script under Unity 8. Probably the only reason it's
working under most under desktop environments is because it's
@xlash911, the only workaround I found was to simply navigate to the
full screen VMWare window, click, press CTRL+ALT which made it select
OUT of the window, then click in again. It was a trivial step and really
became like a second nature since I used CTRL+ALT to navigate my
workspaces anyway. I
