If the issue is RAM usage, then let's address that within Pantheon Wallpaper.
But to be honest, it doesn't sound like a huge issue as-is.

30 MB of RAM is nothing. Showing a black screen when you wake up from
suspend is evil.

Cody,
Yeah the main thing is that the wallpaper is broken as it stands, which is
unacceptable. If we can make it not broken with some voodoo magic, by all
means let's do some voodoo magic. Otherwise, we have this existing
wallpaper solution that can be fixed up again.
I know I'm oversimplifying.
I think the important thing is that wallpaper is broken right now.
Wallpaper disappearing on resume is a confirmed bug.
Whichever one is going to be easier to fix, we should fix.

The original reason we had pantheon-wallpaper is because wallpaper drawing
was inseparable from Nautilus. That ability now exists in
gnome-settings-daemon. So what would be the benefits of pantheon-wallpaper
now? It provided transition effects when it was working but what else?

Hey Tom,
I know you have a ton on your plate, but have you peeked at Pantheon
Wallpaper? I believe the latest builds are excluding it since it has some
outstanding bugs, but I've noticed a lot of problems with he GNOME drawer
(no animations, mega glitches when resuming from suspend). I was wonderi
When and where will the meeting be today? Or has it been called off?
Thanks.
(oh and say if it's GMT or UTC or whichever it is)
