Get a new optical drive. The old ones suck anyways. I have two powermac g4's
both with stock apple DVD drives. Both of these drives will read DVDs, just

VLC should play them in
There are some simple tests that you can perform. Get a firewire cable
and connect to another mac. Then from the other mac boot into the powerbooks
hard drive. If you still just get the grey screen than it's probably just

You can install OS 9 on the Sawtooth. It's best to use a separate
partition from OS X or a separate drive
There's a good chance the iMac OS 9 disks won't work, though,

I have been using a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D on my G3 B&W.. it reads/
writes/burns CD-R +R and RW as well DVD-R +R and RW... its been a
good little drive for the money.

or DVD you can add files later... Typically they come up as an

monitor. On the second monitor, which is turned vertically I lose the
mouse. Mouse Locator helps some, but when the erratic mouse goes to
the outside edge of the vertical monitor, it is lost. Any suggestions

It works great for streaming videos across a wireless network (now I have the
security issues worked out...) but it has one problem. The hard drive is

>From reading these suggestions, it sounds like if you're very low
budget, start with a Digital Audio and then wait for G5's to get
cheaper. On the other hand, if you have the money (and perhaps the
workload to justify it), the G5's are worth a serious look instead.

This is my fault for not running AHT immediately after my System
Crashed a week ago.
The crash consisted of the monitor going dark and on restart the
monitor flashed briefly as the System. booted. This happened
