Thanks very much David. I am embarrassed I did not work it out for myself.

Eh? I have 2.6.21 and the Tools menu item is "Price Editor"
Yes, we changed the name in 2.6.11 to make clear the difference between the
price database window and the price editor dialog. The latter is opened with
the Add and Edit buttons on the former.

Has the name changed? Yes, it seems to be called Price Database now, but
it is still the tool to edit, add and delete security prices. Doesn't that
work for you?

Previously I have been able to update share and fund prices manually using
Price Editor which appeared in the Tools menu. It is no longer there, but
Price Database and Security Editor are there. I tried updating to version
4.11 in the hope that this would solve the problem but it has not.

Perhaps something was lost in translation. When a transaction has an
embedded price Gnucash assumes that it is a purchase or sale and the price
is exact for that trade. Quotes are generally assumed to be estimates,
therefore somewhat soft like newspaper quotes.

Hi,
I noticed that if the price editor has an entry in EUR and an entry in USD, it
used the EUR entry, even if the USD entry has a newer date. My account
currency is EUR.
Is that intended and is there an option to change this behavior?
I usually get the EUR entry, if I buy or sell stock or fun
I switched to AlphaVantage as per Adrien and all is good.

Might be a Yahoo problem. AlphaAdvantage worked fine for me just now.
Check your tracefile before restarting GnuCash and/or run from the command line
to see if you get any warnings or errors output to a terminal. See the wiki for
more instructions if you aren’t familiar with either.

What has happened to Price Editor? For the last 3 days, when prompted
to obtain quotes, the app displays a timer which I end up having to
force GC to close. Prior to this Price Editor worked as advertised. I
only have quote requests for 2 currencies and 4 AMEX accounts.

Thank you for the tip. I have (I think!) found the "offending" setting.
I have unset it.
I think it's possibly something to do with the mailing list - sending a

My apologies.
I am going to swear!
The message below is not the one I sent; lots of asterixes have been

I am running Ubuntu 18.04. GNC ver 3.5. My stock is all on the ASX

then for a while I was able to use Alphvantage but that stopped too.
Hi David:
Yes, I have always used XML. And, up untill this week, all of my quotes
were from date of acquisition, some as old as 2010. I cannot imagine
why they have disappeared.

I have noticed that beginning this week (09/1702018) the price database
of my securities has been truncated and only the current week's prices
are being displayed.
Is this a bug?
My system is unchanged (Linux Mint 18.2 and GC 2.6.17).

I am using alphavantage. Has the get quotes method changed?
