With this build (4.0.0-prealpha.2) I can save .png files without toggle any
option in the .png save dialog :-)
It might be solved anyway in 4.0.0, because i encounter the freeze issue in
3.2.0.

Well, on OSX, enabling opengl might make the cursor really slow, you really
have to double-check in krita's settings dialog.

I had high hopes for your workaround but sadly it doesn't work for me. I tried
with the latest 3.2.0 version and even when I check/uncheck a box in the PNG
dialog box it still freezes randomly.

After some more tests, this seems to happen exclusively to Apple computers with
a Radeon graphics card. Disabling OpenGL in the Krita settings/display page

build it. We do build and package our own png and jpg and so on libraries, but

Hm, the crash log from comment 12 looks like it happens when saving on closing
the window. That one is fixed in commit
89641bfc428c268ae3fe42a0f4dd350b111ebc72 -- but that still doesn't explain

Zut... I thought it was sierra-specific, so I updated my macbook. I could
reproduce it when running sierra from a very slow external disk, but not when

It seems my fears were confirmed: I tested today the packaged 3.1.2 version

Hm, I discovered today where the "QFile::copy: Empty or null file name" comes
from: it's harmless (I fixed the message anyway). It's fixed in a git branch
where I am rewriting import/export.
