The answer (not the accepted answer) in
http://askubuntu.com/questions/740556/trackpoint-and-touchpad-
lenovo-l460-thinkpad-15-10 actually helps me.
Steps:
1. sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
2. Insert "i8042.reset" (no quote) to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
3. sudo update-grub
4. sudo shutdown -r now
Doesn't look like this is fixed. I tried v4.5-rc4-wily and v4.6-rc5-wily
on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but no luck.

Title:
Lenovo ThinkPad L4
I had the same problem with a fresh installed Ubuntu 15.10 on a new L460 (no
dualboot). After various tries with mainline kernels I found, that
$ synclient TouchPadOff=0
solved my problem (also for the original ubuntu kernel).
