This has been some what helpful. I have been able to do the VO command and hit
enter and it does select the item but when I hit comand backspace it does not
delete . Am I doing something wrong?

Command-backspace sends items to the trash that you have selected. You can
hold down the shift key and arrow down or up to select items that are
contiguous. If not. Press VO-command-enter on each item and then press the
command-backspace to delete them.
