Hell , even though I didn’t get a stimulus check, I’d still pony up a cool
$1000 for it sight unseen. It’d be my retirement vehicle (replacing the ‘08
CLK350 Cabriolet the boy totaled).
Kaleb has to pay for that fact tractor. He’s short on car buying moolah.

Heh. You beat the Klebster to it. I’ve been waiting for him to make his stock
offer.

Ok so I’m an idiot- there is in fact a coolant hose which goes into the bottom
of the expansion tank. So I was finally able to check for bubbles and coolant
surge and there was none. I will change the oil and see what happens.

Disconnect that line from the tank and put it into
a glass of water and look for bubbles. Keep the
connection on the tank closed with your finger and
keep the cap on it.

Yes, if you have a blown head gasket, you will see bubbles... as engine
warms up, gasket leak will leak more, which will induce compression gasses
into the cooling system...
Depending on how bad the gasket or corrosion pinhole problem is, you will
see bubbles.. or if it's worse, at high idle or mid
Right but I don’t have a radiator neck, I have a coolant expansion tank with
the hose entering the tank up high. How will I see bubbles or coolant surge in
this situation?

If you want an engine to last, be sure to get the oil up to operating
temperature every time the engine is started, and keep it there for 20 to
30 minutes. This evaporates the moisture in the oil that forms as a result
of the combustion process every time the engine is started.

The bubble part is what I was saying earlier….

Ok I will change oil and filter tomorrow. Any utility in doing a compression
test?

CHANGE THE OIL IMMEDIATELY< AND FILTER.
Oil with water is the kiss of death to bearing surface... DO NOT run engine
till it has clean oil.
Then, run engine and watch for bubbles in radiator tank.. if head gasket is
leaking, engine compression overpowers coolant pressure and compression gas
will bu
Yes zerex GO5 replaced in 2012, car driven only a few thousand miles since.
Been sitting in unheated garage for 3.5 years without getting started. Oil was
changed 4.5 years ago.

Coolant loss is to the outside from reservoir.

There was a 1 foot square puddle of coolant on the ground. The hose that goes
to coolant reservoir from radiator is at top of coolant reservoir and way above
high water mark so I don’t think it would create bubbles.

Get it up to temperature and have someone rev the throttle while you look in
the coolant reservoir for bubbles.
What’s a “good amount” of coolant? Not being snarky, just trying to get an idea
of how much was coming out and how fast.

Could just be condensation -- I'd change the oil and filter pronto, no more
idling!
Sadly, it's more likely a head gasket if you have coolant loss.
You did keep proper anti-corrosive coolant in there, not green stuff, right?
