This morning the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher continued at Coney Island Creek Park,
calling frequently and feeding actively, near a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
It was originally found by Shane Blodgett on Thanksgiving morning.
Also of interest there were ~170 Bonaparte's Gulls in Gravesend Bay (including
It really felt strange to be birding under such balmy conditions while
looking at so many gulls. Betsy and I met Jean Iron, Ron Pittaway, and

(11/26), I cycled across the bridge to Riis park, where I found an adult
winter plumaged Black Headed Gull standing on the beach within the half

the thousands, but the majority of large flocks were well

Hummingbirds on the South Fork (Suffolk Co.). Both are on private property
and cannot be visited by birders. I am looking for a bander who might want

The Ross' Goose was still on the lawn at the Brooklyn Golf Center across from
the Aviator Sports entrance to Floyd Bennett Field late this afternoon. An
immature male Harlequin Duck was off the fisherman's parking lot at Fort
Tilden. There were about 500 Bonaparte's Gulls feeding offshore.
A fairly nice array of ducks on Eastport pond this AM. Still quite a number
of Ring-necked Ducks (~80) along with small numbers of Canvasback (7), Am.
Wigeon (~18), Lesser Scaup (4), Gadwall (2) along with Black Duck, Mallard,
Ruddy Duck. Along the western shore of the pond toward the north end

For you NYers who don't get the Connecticut list there is a gorgeous male
Painted Bunting being seen at the Cove Island Park in Stamford. The park is
adjacent to where a White-winged Dove is also being seen at a private
residence. I've saw both, quite exciting.
