Yesterday, my Verizon cell phone broke. Today, after having it checked at the
Riverhead store, I was directed to it's service location in Bridgehampton,

Today, The Eastern Long Island Audubon Society (ELIAS) conducted a field trip
to Forsythe NWR, NJ. Highlights included TV, at least 6 N.Harriers, one of
which was a Grey Ghost, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 3 Bald Eagles, (2 immatures & an
adult in a tree, busily tearing flesh off it's prey) and 2 adult P

arrived at the eastern parking lots, to find 3/4's of the birding McBrien
Family present, and the birds absent. Mom, Barbara, along with son, Michael,
and daughter , Megan, were just about leaving to try another spot in

Today started with an enjoyable, "Condo" horseshoe tournament in Riverhead.
This was followed by a "Group for the East End " program in Southold, given by
Dr. Judith Weis, of SUNJ Rutgers Newark, on her co-authored book, Salt
Marshes: A Natural and Unnatural History.
Heading home on Sound Ave
A lone T.V.,flying east, was the only bird of note seen during a quick trip out

Today, on a rising tide, Andy Baldelli & I had a fair number of birds, without
seeing anything too special. (13) species of shorebirds included a juvenile

On Tuesday, 8/11, between 3:45-6:00 PM, Barbara & Allan Michelin and I
attempted to get out to the East Bird Island, in Moriches Bay. For the 2nd
straight day, the tide turned us back. We stayed relatively dry, while
observing most of the same species & numbers we had on Monday. The exceptions
