Two Glossy Ibis flew over the boat basin at Heckscher SP this morning
around 8:20, heading east, on the early side for Suffolk Co.
I was hoping they would put down in the marsh but they appeared to keep
going. I did not have time to check Timber Point but it may be worth a
look.

Seeing them is not remarkable along the south side of Central Suffolk County.
Seeing fifty of them taking advantage of mowing and irrigation at the sod farm
along County Road 51 in the town of Riverhead is.

9:45 am Sunday: just saw 4 glossy ibis flying east over Georgica Cove. No
mudflats available for them unfortunately since Georgia Pond was not opened
this spring and water levels are high.

On my way to EPCAL I spied 6 glossy ibis feeding in the mulch piles on the east
side of wading river road, just north of the LIE. I have seen these birds here
over the past several years, must be good eating. Also, I caution anyone
against stopping for more than a quick glance as the property ow

On my morning run along Roe avenue I saw a glossy ibis flying. This evening
while biking around Swan River Preserve (just south of Swan Lake - about 1.5
miles north of where I saw the glossy this morning) I observed a glossy ibis
feeding in the ponds. There were also several geese family and a l
There are 3 glossy ibis in the wetland where the new and old Montauk Hwy
split on the approach to Montauk. Nearby woods have decent numbers of the
expected early migrants -- black and white, yellow-rumped and yellow
warblers, as well as ovenbird, catbird and towhee.

This days dawn I had a wonderful chance observation of ~12 glossy ibis fly over

Like Pat Martin yesterday, I was able to get very good views of the Plegadis
ibis at Goose Pond today and confirm that it is a GLOSSY. The bird was at
the far northeast corner of the marsh. My description is below in my eBird
checklist. Lots of shorebirds here too. A SORA was nice to see.

The adult GLOSSY IBIS found today by Gale VerHague showed well up until
about an hour before sunset (although it would hide for periods of time).
Around that time it took extended flights out of view, eventually returning
after 10-15 minutes each time. It flew back to the Berry Road Marsh one

I had my FOS glossy ibis (6) this morning in a small wetland near Accabonac
Harbor in East Hampton, where they occur each spring. Presumably these are
the same group.
