Brooklyn beaches 20 Dec
Joe Giunta and I (Sy Schiff) ventured into Brooklyn from Long Island to follow
up on the Brooklyn CBC.
Ft. Tilden: At "Seagull Club", nothing of note except for large numbers of
NORTHERN GANNET. (Glaucous Gull not there).

After seeing Sy and Joe at the channel at Floyd Bennett Field, I took the road
that leads north from the campground to the end, (northeastern portion of the
area) where another birder whose name I did not get pointed out the Northern
Shrike and I managed a brief but good look as it perched on a

of Locust Ave, Cutchogue

At around 12:20 today there was a Greater White-fronted Goose (orange bill
color) on the soccer/baseball field at Northport High School with a large
flock of Canada geese.

The Northern Nassau Christmas count, held on Saturday, December 17th, recorded
110 species and 39,124 individuals. This is about 10% and 14% higher,
respectively, than the historical average for the count. The number of
individuals does fluctuate widely depending on the size of the rafts of Grea
A Lesser Black-backed Gull, seen and photographed on count day, has been added
to the Northern Nassau count, bringing the species total to 111.
