We stopped twice today (1/3) to check for the Cassin's Kingbird at the
community garden without luck. Other people who were still holding vigil said
it had not been seen.

and a small flock of Black Scoter (10

On a drive westward from East Hampton, my sister and I decided to try to
get in a bit of birding before the rains started.
As we emerged from the car at Mill Pond in Watermill, NY at around 10:45 a
large raptor immediately captured my attention: An adult Bald Eagle. We
watched it as it hovered
A female King Eider was among a raft of 200+ Common Eiders at Point
Lookout's western groyne, this afternoon.

Just before the storm got to catch the flock of about a dozen Red Crossbills
feasting on an abundant crop of White Pine cones just outside the Paul Smith

This afternoon, during the Putnam CBC, I had a brief encounter with a male
Black-throated Blue Warbler in Carmel, NY. It was in the evergreen bushes
just north of the fence-line along the north side of Old Route 6, just east
of its northern junction with Route 6 (adjacent to the sewage treatment
