It looks like it works if you call the .Seq method on a scalar $index :

((0 1) (1 2) (2 3) (3 4) (4 5) (5 6) (6 7) (7 8) (8 9))
> say @array[$index.Seq]
((9 8) (8 7) (7 6) (6 5) (5 4) (4 3) (3 2) (2 1) (1 0))
