Scans are saving in .jpg, .tif, .tiff and .png when choosing to scan as
a photo. Scan will save as .tif (was not sure which other formats to
try to save as) when scanned as text.

I changed my background to one of the stock backgrounds, when I went to change
back to my normal background in my ~/Pictures directory it was grayed out and
it would not let me open it. I had to make a copy of the file with a different

restart. A large benefit to using non-windows OS's is not having to

Actually, this bug applies to more than just Ubuntu 11.10. Since the
menus are still valid in Ubuntu 10.04, this bug is still valid. As for
unity, if you are a visually disabled user, just type Onboard can be
very frustrating. Perhaps this is still valid, especially for Ubuntu
10.04.

1. Boot Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit into Gnome Shell
2. Observe black flashing squares near Activities button
Observed results:
I'm on 11.10 Gnome Shell, and about once a day, there's a screen corruption
around the Activities button right after boot: a random

This screenshot shows the garbage accumulating at the top of the screen
when I continue working and e.g. typing text into Firefox.
