If I follow the steps from comment 5, sound doesn't play in slideshow
either on Linux or Windows.
Opening the file from comment 0, Linux doesn't play the sound, a little click

Either running the cron job as root or allowing www-data to read the
apache log files are bad ideas. Instead you want to create a new user

So... seems it is impossible to make a GT 840M work on Ubuntu. Nouveau
says "chipset unknown, drm failed". The official driver gives a pink
screen. The driver from the repository fails because some counter > 1.
Sorry for not being more precise. Have reinstalled Ubuntu 4 times

I have a number of machines running 14.10 and I am only observing this
bug on one of them. I'm not sure what's different about the one machine.
