I have the same/similar problem. The mouse pointer disappears

kernel 3.16.0-25.33. Was working fine on 14.04.
Very suspicious that we all have dual quad-core Clovertown or Harpertown

xnox, the problem is the translation of keyboard model names, not
debconf templates.
I checked by extracting the debian package with ar and then untar
control.tar.gz.
