The problem happens after I remove an Aegis Secure Key 3.0 USB Memory
Stick. After this Oops it appears that no new processes can be created
(I suspect some critical lock is left locked).

Hello, I'm currently running kernel 4.1.20 and I'm experiencing this
exact issue. For the same reasons as above, I can't install the patch
because of the kernel difference. I have tried just adding the firmware
files but that also doesn't seem to fix the problem.

I'm also having this problem copying to an external USB 3 drive, with
Nemo (Cinnamon file manager) copies around 35 MiB/s on my Q6600 CPU.
big_writes helped, but although file copying via Nemo sped up to around
60 MiB/s, it was still CPU bound. Copying via pv < source_file >
dest_file is faster
Tested this bug with different supported Ubuntu versions. Texlive, tex-
common installed.
Cases:
1. Upgrading Ubuntu 15.10 > 16.04. Can't confirm.
2. Upgrading Ubuntu 14.04.4 > 15.10. Upgrade hangs on VirtualBox and on real

We originally encountered that issue on Travis. After I couldn't
reproduce it locally on my 15.10 machine, I downloaded Ubuntu Server
14.04 and could verify it in a VM. Seems like I forgot to install the

but unfortunately the build failed.

I found out if you remove the lxc folder, or probably at least
unity8-lxc's folder, you can then correctly purge unity8-lxc. Hopefully
a good workaround until this bug is patched...

I just experienced this same issue. I upgraded from 15.10 to 16.04 last
night, so that update apparently didn't resolve it.

25% of the cpu according to top. I've not had it open most of the time,
but the cpu time is at 29:05 with a system up time of 17:30:21. That is
more than twice the cpu time of Xorg and more than any other

Happening now on wily.
It looks like the "fix" was just to pull a more recent version of
XScreenSaver, but that doesn't really address the root cause.
