Sure thing. Just to let you know, the latest kernel is causing bootup
problems. I had to boot using 3.13.0-40 in order to finish the upgrade. I
am waiting for the 800 files to finish downloading/installing. I'll update
the bug report.

In addition, if this becomes a trust issue that would cause additional work
hours to go back to testing upgrades before deployment, we will have to
seriously consider a different distribution.
I am very sorry to have to be so direct in this way. We've trusted Ubuntu

Solution in #2 works.
For some reason either there is an overwrite issue to /etc/init.d or there is a
missing process to 'rm' items in this folder before upgrading each pkg.

For me, the repo was showing 3.x, not 4.x. I think that is the problem
especially if it comes from third-party repos as they get shut off during
dist-upgrades. Otherwise, the trunk is not being updated with 4.x

Yes it did. Seems the repository did not have all the Samba4 files and y.x
was conflicting. I uninstalled Samba comoletely and it works fine.
Now, to figure out what happened with Samba.

site is 1.7.30 (with a warning that it does not work in 9.10) - link:

Hi Tommy,
I am running 9.10 and the driver is still out of date. I manually
updated the driver - but it still didn't fix the problem.
It is a problem with Modem Manager (or associated) choosing ttyUSB2 to
connect through instead of ttyUSB0. Can see this happening via the logs.

As of today - Sat Dec 5 - after the latest Kernel update and NM update
from PPA trunk I don't seem to be getting segfaults any more. Not sure
precisely when the segfaults stopped as I haven't tried NM (been using
CLI pon) for about the last 3-4 days.
However I am still unable to connect via NM as
Since my last test I have found that the reason I was not able to use
the connection is that the /etc/resolve.conf was not pointing at my DNS
servers - once fixed I was able to connect and use the connection (using
it now!). But Modem Manager is still segfaulting and I am still

It successfully dials out and connects - it appears to get an internal

Windows. However it gets an external IP address (P-to-P) o

Hi Bejay, et. al.
I have a Fujitsu T2010 that has a built in Sierra MC8780 3G modem. Like
you worked fine in earlier versions now in 9.04 it doesn't.

I updated the Driver - but this did not resolve the NM issue. It did

Hi Ahmad
I have a P1610 and have downloaded and tried your package. It seems to
work fine on my lappy. Well done.
The only thing not working is the 'stylus' does not rotate with the
screen - using the 'fjbtndrv' for the 4 buttons and rotate function.
It looks like there were options using xorg.c
Thanks Leann.
I will raise seperate bug reports in the near future.
I have a number I need to make so will collate them and raise them all at the
same time - seperately of course.
