After installing 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1.7 on Trusty, I had to set execute
right on /etc/grub.d/00_header. Now it works normally with my lvm system
partition.
So enable proposed repository, and then:
sudo apt-get install grub-efi-amd64/trusty-proposed -t trusty-proposed
sudo chmod +x /etc/grub.d/00_h
Even without using unattended install on Ubuntu 14.04, the kernels are
marked as manually installed. This prevent apt autoremove from removing
unneeded kernel.
So I needed to do this tricks:
sudo apt-mark auto $(apt-mark showmanual | grep linux-image)
Then I can run normally:
sudo apt-get autorem
In my case, my 15GB root partition is nearly full (btrfs filesystem df /)
whereas it only contain 7.5GB of data (du -shx /).
In fact, I just discovered
@apt-snapshot-release-upgrade-utopic-2014-10-23_23:24:46 volume (sudo btrfs
subvolume list -p /), and I guess it used the other 7.5GB.

I got better result using default lightdm greeter instead of ubuntu's one.

In saucy the combination is Alt + LShift + NumLock. The problem is that it is
not listed in Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Universal Access.
It's also difficult to find Settings > Universal Access > Pointing and Clicking
> Mouse Keys (Control the pointer using the keypad) to go back to normal
Interesting: sometimes it works normally at boot, sometimes it does not
but it works if I restart lightdm service one or two times (without
doing anything else). It may be a race condition that may be link with
bug #1029790 (but this one should be fixed now).
When it fails, it stop just before "[+

working (because of the shape of Ubuntu's logo) but I get a black screen when

package during live session to get ubiquity working. The computer is
configured to use RAID in the BIOS, and switching the setting to AHCI
prevent Windows from booting, so I revert to RAID setting and remove

udisks-daemon use lots of
When I was using "N mode", I can see "Tx excessive retries" in iwconfig
output that increase a lot when the connexion hang. The was no other
error or information in dmesg or syslog.

I found a warkaround: disabling wifi N by adding option "noht=1" (No
High Throughput) when loading the module.
$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/carl9170_wifi.conf
options carl9170 noht=1
You also can test nohwcrypt=1 it the first option didn't helped.

I tried to change sdb1 partition type from 6 (f
I can reproduce the bug when putting back the files I reviously backed up.
However I tried to do the same on a second computer with a new test account and
the same file without being able to reproduce the trouble (the first computer
wasn't mine but the one of an user that I take care of in my LUG
I encountered this trouble on a laptop upgraded from precise to quantal
(linux 3.5.0-19). Using previous linux version (3.2 from precise) or 3.6
from PPA didn't helped. After backuping and removing
~/.{compiz,config,gconf{,d},gnome2} directories, it now works normally.

Tests I run that didn't change anything:
- start a guess session (clean unity/compiz configuration)
- upgrade x stack using xorg-edgers
- run linux 3.2 or linux 3.5 with difference xser
