Christopher, here are some results from live medium without any update, i.e.,
as it comes with the live CD:
- 12.04.5 => same problem as above
- 13.04 and 13.10 => don't boot (seems to crash when graphic card is called,
but I'm no specialist)
- 14.04 and 14.10 => same as 12.04.5 and as described

This issue also occurs in previous versions of Ubuntu. It also occurs in at
least the most recent versions of Fedora.
I tested the latest upstream kernel but the computer does not boot anymore.
