Yup - I just updated to 10.10, the issue persists. Same with Leonardo,
it is just the DVI monitor that has the problem. (As has always been the
case)

The workaround is to edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst file. Add noapic
acpi=off to the end of the root line. You can do this while booting
just by hitting e when the boot menu appears. Then select the root line
and hit e again. Go to the end of the line and add the command. Hit
return to save the edit
Actually this is still an issue with Ubuntu (10.04).
@David Smith -- It seems to help me if I turn my monitor off, leave it
off for something like 10 seconds and then turn it back on. I will not
have this blinking problem again for maybe 2 months or so.
