To force the connection status you can use video=TV-1:e (you need to
correct the name to match the kernel of course).

Annoyingly, this works occasionally with the time honoured Turning It
Off And Turning It On Again technique. I can then reboot as often as I
like and it stays working, but powering off and powering on again will
cause it to fail.
So maybe some sort of state initialisation going wrong?

Although i guess that'd really be for the my tv isn't detected rather
than my tv should always be detected, which is this bug. So maybe best
ignore that last comment entirely. .;)
