I have the same problem on Dell Studio 1747 Ubuntu 11.04 x64.
Before I updated to 11.04 I had very good read/write performance on the same sd
card.
What information do you need, to can investigate the problem? Can
anybody give a hint?

and I think the reporter wanted to report a problem with a usb connected
sd card reader.
From my side it affects _just_ the sd card reader (internal, I don't
have a usb card reader). The read/write performance from usb harddisks
is same good, as before the update.

No, it is an internal card reader. Now it is working properly, I am not
sure what had changed (maybe an update). It is a bit odd since by times
all the computer works too slow, including the internet connection and
the I/O from discs/card reader/usb.
