Might this error be related to Bug #762167?
I did a fresh install of ubuntu, and when running that app I got a lot of:
Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "pixmap"
And the app looked different than before (see new screenshot), it was
only when installing 'gtk2-engines-p

This doesn't sound like a compiz bug to me. If that's being painted
inside the application I'd guess that java is doing something wrong.
