I guess I'm having the same problem.
I'm trying to burn a DVD+R DL on my recorder and I get this error... I guess it
happens only with dual layer midia.
My recorder:
$ cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: Optiarc Model: BD ROM BC-5500S Rev: 1.75
Type: CD-ROM
I was actually looking into this the other day because this problem was
getting so annoying to me. I found one bug thread someone (dont recall
the number) where one user switch the bios IDE mode from IDE to AHCI and
said that after doing so they were unable to get their SATA burner to
burn
I don't now, if there is a connection, but i commented out the lines in
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules
After a reboot (the new lines in 70-persistent-cd.rules are same as the
commented), i wrote 2 dvd (one dvd-rw, one dvd-r) without error.
So... don't realy now, what happend, but if
Tested the same isoimage with kernels:
Linux version 2.6.24-27-generic (bui...@palmer) (gcc version 4.2.4 (Ubuntu
4.2.4-1ubuntu4)) #1 SMP Wed Mar 24 10:04:52 UTC 2010
Linux version 2.6.24-24-generic (bui...@palmer) (gcc version 4.2.4 (Ubuntu
4.2.4-1ubuntu4)) #1 SMP Fri Sep 18 16:49:39 UTC 2009
Same here, with DVD-R, DVD-RW disks (non dual layer). dmesg after write:
[ 1427.538809] ata2.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen
[ 1427.538822] ata2.00: cmd a0/01:00:00:00:80/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0 dma 32768
out
[ 1427.538823] cdb 2a 00 00 21 c7 e0 00 00 01 00
I was having the exact same problem. What was even more strange is that
I was able to burn some cd's and dvd's but not all of them, especially
where I was burning a cd or dvd image. I remembered reading somewhere
for the different burning applications to not put spaces in the
filename. So this one
Or probably no spaces in the filepath either because it gets put
directly in the command line.

Hi,
today I tried to burn a video dvd for the first time. Two times I used
k3b, which utilises growisofs. The third time I created the ISO image
manually with makeisofs and called growisofs on the command line.
$ growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvdrw2=mydvd.iso
Executing 'builtin_dd
Hi,
I have had a similar problem and was fixed when I turned DMA off for drive
sudo hdparm -d 0 /dev/hdc
I tried burning CD/DVD Images and DVD Data projects and all were failing
until turned off dma.
Attached is 2 k3b debug ouputs
