Jeffrey, you're correct regarding metacity if the same problem is seen
outside of unity-2d, so the bug should be valid for trusty even though
there are now fewer environments using it.
I think ideally metacity would be in universe, but it's still depended
upon by compiz packaging wise.

of restoring the original worked.
Something is really messed up if it thinks restoring is illegally

I was wondering why my system suddenly started to swap a lot shortly
after resume from suspend and found that update-apt-xiapian-index was
the culprit after force-oomkill-ing some things to get the system
responsive again.
After watching it a bit, top showed this:

We now see this document https://bitbucket.org/aims_za/research-project
produces this problem for some users, and not for others (identical computer
lab installations).
Still trying to isolate root cause.

And... Thanks! I've built and successfully tested the patched metacity
on trusty at ppa:timo-jyrinki/ppa :)
I installed gnome-session-fallback, and with the patched metacity I was
able to use alt-grave to switch between 3+ same windows (similar to
Compiz/Unity), unlike without the patch. I also

This seams to only happen when I use ALT key to show the Dash.
It doesn't happen, when I use the default setting of using SUPER key to show
the DASH.
However this isn't really a solution, because my main keyboard doesn't have a
SUPER key.

crash? According to the stacktrace, I guess it's also when quitting the
dock. Can you confirm
