Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in
the application being used for the package installation process.

libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql in connection with a cgi script. To reproduce
put the following in /etc/apache2/conf.d/authpgtest.conf and then
execute a2enconf authpgtest.conf and service apache2 reload .

On Ubuntu 14.04 nmbd fails to start on boot. There may be a regression in the
upstart script.
The following change fixed the problem for me:
Change the "start on" condition in /etc/init/nmbd.conf to:
start on (started smbd)
