Rotating as above using xrandr and the nouveau drivers (as in lucid
repository) works fine. But of course the nouveau driver doesn't
support 3D or even all the 2D features. And the nvidia driver doesn't
support xrandr. So no optimal workaround yet that I can find.

Still don't know if this was the right bug description for me.
The things I had and are visible in the video i posted earlier are still
present if i boot in kernel -19 gone with >-20.
so for my bug obiviously was a kernel issue and not radeon!
But this was the closest bug report i could find...
My 845G also still crashes with the white stripes after setting
'i915.modeset=0'. Please let me know if I can contribute to the testing
of any workarounds.
Only have one computer though, so no SSH.

Screensaver Molecule freezes computer. I found my solution. Go into
root by $ sudo -i, give password, and then at root# rm
/usr/lib/xscreensaver/molecule, and then root# rm
/usr/share/xscreensaver/config/molecule.xml, and then remove from the
gnome-screensaver # rm /usr/lib/gnome-screensaver/molec
