building a new gluster volume this weekend, trying to optimize it fully
for virt. RHGS states that it supports only a 512mb shard size, so i ask
why is the default for ovirt 64mb?___

Hi Team,
I need a quick help from you. I need to upgrade ovirt host server from 4.1
to 4.2 version but i am getting below errors :-
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Package: nfs-ganesha-nullfs-2.3.3-1.el7.x86_64

I ran into one snag when testing full backups overnight. Exporting a large
VM failed. I checked logs and discovered that it was due to an ansible
timeout, but not in my playbook. I increased the timeout by
creating /etc/ovirt-engine/engine.conf.d/99-ansible-playbook-timeout.conf
on hosted engine
Hi Paul, thanks for your reply.
I imported the VM with the command below, but I had that create a Export Domain
on oVirt for this task. Only problem this task is that is in two parts, first
part is export to Export Domain, on NFS, and second part is import on oVirt
through of the Export Domain.
Hi Joseph,
that "Image Level" backup as OVA file is a monthly backup as a basic for us, to
have a complete virtual machine.
There are also weekly full and daily incremental backups on filesystem level
using a backup agent and remote backup.
Our biggest V-disk is 300GB which is exported in 29 mi
As Joseph mentioned in his email, it is mostly situational dependent.
I run a 2 node cluster and use multiple interfaces.
The first 1Gb nic is for ovirtmgmt and is used for management with no vlan
tagging and has the default gateway, DNS, etc assigned to it.
My 2nd 1Gb NIC, for now, is for all
Ansible can be daunting simply because of how powerful it is, but it’s
actually quite easy to run a simple playbook like the one I’m writing for
backups, especially if ran from ovirt hosted engine as it already has
ansible and all the needed dependencies installed.
I’m working on throwing together
How do you go with big virtual disk's? I run a file server with a 2TB
virtual disk, but don't want a 2TB data log to back up every time I run it.
Same goes with a heap of VMs with 100Gb disks, I don't really want to take
up another 100gb of space every day I back up, that's why my current

Hi Jan,
i've seen this post too, but i've absolutely no idea of dealing with ansible,
so i can't say much in this topic.
The hope was, that i made a mistake in my script :)

Indeed. A felt like there was need for a simple way to backup ovirt vms.
Ansible may just be the answer. After some more testing of the playbook I
plan to publish a blog post/guide on the subject so others can use it.

I believe you would have to either combine the drives with raid or lvm so
it’s presented as one device or just create multiple storage domains

Hyperconverged uses gluster, and gluster uses replication (replica 3 or
replica 2 + arbiter) so adding raid below may not be needed.
Yes, I know this, but there is a way from the UI to create the storage
domain using more then one disk?
I can't understand this in the
