[Xpert]Trident and change of video mode

Hello, I have one last problem with the trident driver: When changing video modes (ether with Crtl-Alt-Keyplus or with DGA) my whole laptop hangs. I tried to check the logfile over the network, but nothing is written to it since the whole OS hangs. Any ides what might be causing this?/ideas on
