Telecom service provider Vodafone India Ltd on Thursday announced its tie-up 
with the National Association for the Blind (NAB) to help provide job 
opportunities to the visually impaired.
As part of the initiative, employees recruited by Vodafone India through NAB 
will man the call centre customers in the Delhi region.
The employees have undergone training on voice recognition system instead of 
Braille, which enables them to handle calls, a company release said.
Shalini Khanna, Centre Head, NAB India Centre, Delhi, said: “We feel this 
initiative by Vodafone India shall be a role model for many corporates to be 
innovative and go the extra mile to accommodate more diverse groups in their 
productivity.”

Developed by a group of researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of 
Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, the glasses allows the wearer to 
"see" when a loud sound is made, and gives an indication of where it came from, 
New Scientist reported.

An array of seven microphones, mounted on the frame of the glasses, pinpoints 
the location of such sounds and relays that directional information to the 
wearer through a set of LEDs embedded inside the frame.

The glasses will only flash alerts on sounds louder than a threshold level, 
which is defined by the wearer.

But there is one problem; it requires the user to carry a laptop around in a 
backpack to process the signal.

However, lead researcher Yang-Hann Kim stresses that the device is a first 
iteration that will be miniaturised over the next few years.

The KAIST team presented its work last week at the InterNoise conference in New 
York City.

[AI] Solving the problem of mobile speak

My friend, Sri Arun Kumar Roy is using n73 mobile set along with original 
mobile speak of fonix 3.82.
But other voice is not supporting except fonix.
During the incoming call the fonix does not tell the name or numbers also.
It is to be mentioned that in voice on call nokia no voice is coming except 
nokia TTS.
How can he get the solution about this matter .

hi satguru, it might be possible that the plugins of fdm are not 
supported by the browser. for .g suppose you are using mozilla 15 and

the fdm is some older then mozilla it will not support that browser. 
because the firefox is keep updating around every month but fdm is 
lagging behind.
i have experienced with mozilla 10 and 11. that the fdm was not 
suporteds those browsers.

It should be problem with the key alignment. Did your key board sufferd any 
heavy blow? Once I faced a problem wit my key board when a heavy book fell on 
it. Later I had to replace it with a new one. If the key board is of foldable 
type, the problem is almost usual.

for opening the book do the following:

1. open the start menu.

2. open  the program using your first letter navegation that is Letter 
P, if it classic startmenu already installed in your system, otherways 
search in the startmenu search box as AMIS.



3, Open AMIS aswell using your First letter navigation and hit 
rightarrow once.

u will hear, aditional submenu.

expand once again.

u can find there, AMIS compatibility mode.

4. hit enter and open it.

quickly, AMIS  help will popup.

never mind, locate the file yourself with standard windows command, 
Control O.

your done.

hope this will be helpful to our windows 7 amis users some extant.

My friend, Sri Arun Kumar Roy is using n73 mobile set along with original 
mobile speak of fonix 3.82.
But other voice is not supporting except fonix.
During the incoming call the fonix does not tell the name or numbers also.
It is to be mentioned that in voice on call nokia no voice is coming except 
nokia TTS.
How can he get the solution about this matter .

the honk of a car horn. 

Developed by a group of researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of 
Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, the glasses allows the wearer to 
"see" when a loud sound is made, and gives an indication of where it came from, 
New Scientist reported. 

An array of seven microphones, mounted on the frame of the glasses, pinpoints 
the location of such sounds and relays that directional information to the 
wearer through a set of LEDs embedded inside the frame. 

The glasses will only flash alerts on sounds louder than a threshold level, 
which is defined by the wearer. 

But there is one problem; it requires the user to carry a laptop around in a 
backpack to process the signal. 

However, lead researcher Yang-Hann Kim stresses that the device is a first 
iteration that will be miniaturised over the next few years. 

The KAIST team presented its work last week at the InterNoise conference in New 
York City.

small bills or little amount of pages, it's more than enough. rather if 
you're going to keep on scanning a bunch of pages or an entire book, I won't

for identifying it, you know.

[AI] a strainge problem with my desktop key board

dear access indians, i am facing a very dtrainge problem with my key 
board these days.
the problem is, when ever i hit the letter c, d, and e it automatically 
prefix or suffix another letter.
for e.g when i hit "e" it will prefix "w" either followed by "e" or next 
to "e".
or when i press "d" it will prefix "s" either followed by "d" or next to 
"d".

and lastly when i press "c" it will prefix "x" either before or after "c"
but at present i am writing this mail, i didn't encounter any such problem.
any sollution for this problem?i am waiting for your suggestion i am 
using win 7 on my pc.

Really long since I wrote anything on this forum. There are many new
faces and unknown names. Hello to everyone new from this rather aging
member of this group. To my question: as mentioned in the subject
line, what would be the best scanner to buy for scanning a few of my
old books? Is there a place from where I can get prices and specs of
the scanners in general? And, at a time when there are iPhone apps for
scanning, do you think buying a scanner is a good idea? Your comments
please.

Dear List Members,

This has reference to a recent query regarding Muteing and unmuteing the system 
volume using shortcut keys. I hope all will benefit from the article given 
below. The article requires user to download a small utility (download link 
provided in the article). The article and its link is given below:

"Mute and unmute the system volume by pressing a key combination

Do you want to mute and unmute the system volume simply by pressing a key 
combination ?
You can easily do that with NirCmd utility. Just download NirCmd ZIP file from 
here, extract NirCmd.exe to any folder you like, and then run NirCmd with the 
following command-line parameters:
nircmd.exe cmdshortcutkey "~%folder.desktop%" "Mute Volume" "CTRL+SHIFT+M" 
mutesysvolume 1
nircmd.exe cmdshortcutkey "~%folder.desktop%" "Unmute Volume" "CTRL+SHIFT+U" 
mutesysvolume 0

After executing the above 2 lines, you'll find 2 new shortcuts on your desktop: 
"Mute Volume" and "Unmute Volume". Pressing "CTRL+SHIFT+M" will activate the 
"Mute Volume" shortcut and will mute your system volume. Pressing 
"CTRL+SHIFT+U" will activate the "Unmute Volume" shortcut and will unmute your 
system volume.
The CTRL+SHIFT+M and CTRL+SHIFT+U key combinations are just an example, and you 
can choose any hot-key combination you like, as long as the key combination you 
choose is not registered by Windows operating system or by other software.

If you want to mute/unmute your system volume by using only one key combination 
(the first key press will mute the volume and the second key press will unmute 
it), just try this example:
nircmd.exe cmdshortcutkey "~%folder.desktop%" "Switch Volume" "CTRL+SHIFT+S" 
mutesysvolume 2

...And finally, whenever you wish to remove these hot-key combinations from 
your system, simply delete the shortcuts created by NirCmd from your desktop.

hi satguru, it might be possible that the plugins of fdm are not 
supported by the browser. for .g suppose you are using mozilla 15 and


the fdm is some older then mozilla it will not support that browser. 
because the firefox is keep updating around every month but fdm is 
lagging behind.
i have experienced with mozilla 10 and 11. that the fdm was not 
suporteds those browsers.
