2013-10-13 Thread Umesha Economics

Hi Pallavi,
I think your logic is wrong. you asked
"what is the use and meaning of all the educational qualifications earned by
us? Is there no value for our hard work and education, that were earned by
spending years together???"

you have to ask,
if they are going to readily decide that VI teachers cannot handle the
class, what is the sense in taking your interview and demo class?
are they perfectly managing their classes? ask them to sit in my class as
students. I am working as teacher in the nearby city of Tumkur from past 3
and odd years. or else, some of VI teachers are successfully working in
Bangalore from past several years. ask them to become their students. I tell
"as students" because, they aught to learn many things in controlling the
class etc. in the field of education as well as society.
don't get disturbed or distressed due to their attitudes. we have to face
lot many such obstacles in the journey of life. certainly your education and
knowledge will come to your rescue. wishing you all the best.

Subject: [AI] REFUSAL OF MY RESUME, AS I AM A VISUALLY CHALLENGED PERSON

Hello friends, i would like to share one of my worst experiences, that
i am consistently facing these days. As i have completed my education
with two master degrees, now i am engaged with free lancing
journalist. But, i have a strong aspiration to establish myself with
full time job. Consequently, i posted my resume in many colleges, that
fits my qualification. this is one of my experience at a prestigeous
college in Silicon city Bangalore, Karnataka.
The college invited me by getting impressed of my resume and my
qualifications and also took my interview. they also made me to give
my demo class. but, the opinions i got after the class was really
disgusting. all the faculty people and the principle, who appreciated
my language, speaking style, lecturing method, everything... just
rejected me by telling that, they can't take me, as i am a visually
handicapped and also told that, a visually handicapped person cannot
handle the class by controlling the students, who are mischieveous...
if so, then what is the use and meaning of all the educational
qualifications earned by us? Is there no value for our hard work and
education, that were earned by spending years together???

Re: [AI] Formatting Drive.

2013-10-13 Thread Umesha Economics
unluckily, if the disk has been damaged physically, it cannot be formatted
whatever method or program you use.
hence, I don't have hope that using command prompt solve the problem. nor
even deleting and re-creating the partition. but you can give it a try. but,
be cautious while deleting partitions in the middle! for example, if you
delete your E drive, your F, G, H drives may also be deleted. it once
happened to me. so, backup everything before something unpleasant happens.

as I found, windows disk management utility is mostly accessible.

if it doesnt, deleting the partition and re-creating the partition will
work.

since it is difficult to manage threw window's disk management

This is a good time to bring you all up to date on LEAN Math. I just
posted

a new beta version and hope to have a final release before end of 2013.
LEAN is a general interface to math for use with audio or braille screen
readers. It was developed to provide a convenient way to write and
manipulate math, not just read it. In principle LEAN is useful for any
authoring system that can input and output MathML. Version 1 is an
interface

to MS Word+MathType. I went that route because it is the most popular
scientific authoring application in the world.

LEAN should be very intuitive. Function keys act as pull-down menus for
math symbols and expressions. There are also hot keys for most popular
items such as inserting a fraction or a square root, or a table, an
integral, a differential, etc. These are inserted from the Function Key
menus or hot keys, and place markers indicate where you are to insert - ie
the numerator and denominator of that fraction, etc. LEAN was developed
to

be extremely convenient for people using speech, but it works in braille
too.

If you'd like to join the beta test, send me a note.

[AI] need help about booking railway tickit.

2013-10-13 Thread Dr Yusuf Vohra
hello friends,
I know that now a days, lot of visually impaired persons book their
railway tickit without sited's assistance with IRCTC website.
so friends, I want to learn from those persons. how to book railway
tickit from this website? is it full accessible with jaws 14 or with
NVDA latest? like after login from this site, what to do first?
means, if I want to travel from baroda to mumbai, so first how to
check that which trains are available for this? after getting train
information, how to check seat availability? after checking seat
availability, how to book our selected burth? after selecting burth,
how to book tickit with reservation for this burth? after booking,
what are the steps to pay with net banking?
so these are my questions for which I need yor help.
if anybody can help off the list also can be appritiated. I can
contact him or her with phone also if I will get number. my mobile
number and my e-mail ID has been given in billow signicher.
waiting for your soon reply.
with warm regards,

hi geetha,
many thanx for sharing this. i opened the link hoping to download it
for postarity but ended up reading the whole thing.
very wonderfully expressed, and of course while a lot of it is part of
the universal stages of grappling with blindness, her spirit is very
appealing. most importantly it leavs u with the feeling of being able
to identify with another person so distent, but brought immediately
closer by the sheer thread that binds all such arkitypes of common
life experiences and world view.
thanx again.

[AI] Formatting Drive.

2013-10-13 Thread Amiyo Biswas
Hello,

The E drive on my Dell laptop has been damaged. When I navigate on to this
drive in the explorer window, the "drive not formatted" message appears. I
tried to format it from the xp set up window and after installing windows. Each
time it got stuck after 55%. I tried both quic ntfs and full ntfs. So, about
100 gb hard disk space is left out. Is there any way to complete the format of
the drive?

With best regards,
Amiyo Biswas

Re: [AI] Regarding guitar lessons

2013-10-13 Thread Shireen Irani
hi bhavya.
there is a very popular music store at churchgate in mumbai called
furtado and sons.
i have lost their number right now, but u can get it from just dial,
or online. just call them, and ask them to give u names of guitar
teachers around your area.
they have a huge list of registered teachers. once u have those names,
contact the teachers, and ask them if they can take u. a lot of
teachers may be hesitant to take u innitially, because they wont have
any experience teaching the blind.
dont get discouraged by that at all, it is a shortcoming on their
part. not yours.
u need to try and persuade the teacher to try u out at least for 2
months before they make up their mind. so u will have that much time
to prove yourself.
tell them that u wont read music, but u will here and pik up
everything. also try to find a teacher who's flexible enough to start
with some simple songs 1st before directly jumping to western clasical
music. because most teachers registered with furtados will be clasical
musicians. so just request them to 1st start with some basic songs.
do this much and let us know how it goes.
if u have any more questions regarding this, u can also contact me off the list.
all the best.
shireen.

[AI] Tech’s 10 most common queries answered by expert

2013-10-13 Thread anil kumar
There are certain problems we all deal with every day, but don't know
why. Why do I need to keep resetting my router? Do I have a virus?
What happens when a site I use gets "hacked?"

Whether you're the tech-savvy friend that's always answering these
questions or the friend doing the asking, here are the answers to the
most common conundrums.Tech’s 10 most common queries answered

How do I keep my laptop's battery in good health?

You've probably heard some people say you should drain your battery
completely before charging it, or that you should keep it between 40%
and 80% all the time to make it last longer. A lot of this is
confusion over how batteries used to work, not how they work today.
Luckily, most or all of your gadgets these days run on Lithium Ion
batteries, which are easy to take care of.

We recommend reading our full guide on how they work, but the gist is:
they last longer when you perform shallow discharges, keep them cool,
and don't leave them plugged in while they're running at 100% battery.
Honestly, though, batteries have a finite life no matter what, and
your efforts will only go so far-so don't stress about it. Focus your
efforts on getting better battery life out of your iPhone, Android
phone, or laptop on a given charge instead.

What do viruses, trojans, and other malware actually do?

Everyone knows viruses and trojans are bad, but a lot of people don't
know how exactly they work. Viruses, for example, are programs that
copy themselves and infect a computer, spreading from one to
another-just like, well, a real life virus. Trojans, on the other
hand, are applications that look normal, but secretly have code that's
doing something else-like letting someone else control your computer.

We highly recommend reading this explanation for more detail on the
different types of malware, as well as the biggest myths surrounding
them. And, as always, make sure you're running a good antivirus
program-even if you have good browsing habits.

What's wrong with using public Wi-Fi?

Most of us put a lot of effort into finding free Wi-Fi, but public
Wi-Fi networks have their own share of problems-particularly that it's
very insecure. Even if a Wi-Fi network has a password, that doesn't
keep you safe from other people on the network.

It's notoriously easy for any of them to see what you're doing and, in
some cases, steal personal information or passwords. Luckily, there's
a lot you can do to stay safe, whenever you're on a public network,
and you should be a-ok.

Do I really need to "eject" USB drives?

Ever wonder why your computer warns you about ejecting those USB
drives before you remove them? It's because computers use something
called write caching to improve performance-if you copy something to
your drive, sometimes it'll tell you it's completed the task, but it's
actually waiting until it has a few other tasks to perform so it can
do them all at once.

When you press eject, it finishes anything in the queue to make sure
you don't yank it out before it's done. Windows does a better job of
avoiding problems than OS X and Linux, but we recommend ejecting all
your drives anyway. It's small price to pay for avoiding lost data.
While we're on the subject: if you've ever wondered why your external
drives never have as much space as the box claims they do, we've got
answers for that as well.

How can I tell if an email is spam?

Some spam is obvious ("I lost 30 pounds and made $24356 in five hours
by taking this special pill!"), but other messages are more subtle. A
lot of spam relies oh "phishing," in which a spammer will try to make
their email look like it's coming from a legitimate source. They may
tell you to click a link that looks like it's going to paypal.com, but
really goes to their PayPal-disguised site where you willingly type in
your information.

Luckily, you can usually avoid those tricks by checking the URL and
typing it in yourself instead. Be careful, too-sometimes those links
will cause you to unknowingly spam one of your friends, too.

Why are cables so expensive?

So you've bought yourself a shiny new Blu-Ray player, but you need an
HDMI cable to go with it. The Best Buy employee hands you a cable
and-what the crap-it's $40?! But you buy it grudgingly because you
need it. Well, never again: the reason those cables are so expensive?
Because they know you'll buy it anyway. The truth is, back in the old
days, cables with gold-plated connectors or fancy shielding actually
produced a better picture, but with modern digital cables-like HDMI,
USB, and others-things are much simpler (and cheaper).

A cheap cable from Monoprice will work just as well, so don't waste
your money. While you're at it, buy refurbished and skip the extended
warranty if you want to save even more money on your tech.

What happens when a site I use gets hacked?

You've no doubt heard about all the sites that have gotten compromised
in the last year, but what happens when they do? Usually those hackers

[AI] Regarding my subscription.

2013-10-13 Thread Shaktikumar Agrawal
Dear sir

Actually I am a subscriber of the Access India mailing list. For last
several days, I am not receiving mails in my inbox at all. therefore I
had tried to re-subscribe the list. I received the mail that the bad
person was trying to use your mail ID to subscribe the list. I confirm
that it was me, who tried to re-subscribe the list. Please investigate
the issue, whether it was my own mistake that I am not receiving the
mails in my inbox for last several days.
In Anticipation of reply,
Sincerely Yours, Shakti.

if you have basic knowledge of guitar then you can learn its cords and
pattern used in song playing through online guitar sites. If you are a
beginner then contact pradeep sikder. He will guide you properly.

Living with more vision and less sight

Ten years ago I heard the news I was going to experience sight loss and I
threw an 'I'm going to go blind' party! This year I have written an eBook to
celebrate my tenth anniversary of being visually impaired.

'Living with more vision and less sight' is a collection of my memories and
musings that I have noted over ten years.

It is my personal account of my daft memories, what I have learned and what
has seen me through. I really hope you like it. If you do, please forward

"Witty, poignant, moving, thought provoking, educational and oh so readable.
Steph Cutler has brilliantly described her journey through sight loss. This
short book is a synthesis of moments, recollections and challenges that
Steph faces as she makes sense of a life with limited sight. Unsentimental
and at times challenging, it is well worth the read. Highly recommended."

Phil Friend OBE
Chair, Disability Rights UK

"A highly personal account of sight-loss that is insightful and full of
vision . puns intended (as Steph herself would appreciate). Both moving and
heartfelt, Steph's account of sight-loss challenges all the stereotypes of
visual impairment and reveals how she had the vision to choose her own
future as one of a life full of positive actions we can all learn from: this
is a short book to inspire - not through triumph over tragedy, but
empowerment over apathy. It is a rare treat to read something by someone
with such vision."
