[AI] Jharkhand: Visually impaired farmer eyes Assembly seat

2014-12-17 Thread avinash shahi
Politics is a 'new beginning' for visually impaired farmer Bipad Baran
Ghosh. The negligence of former and present MLAs of his region towards
specially abled persons made him choose the path of politics on World
Disability Day celebrated on December 3. Ghosh, who had been fighting
for the rights of disabled ones since a decade has filed his
nomination for the assembly polls from Nala constituency, going to
poll on December 20.
http://www.dailypioneer.com/state-editions/ranchi/visually-impaired-farmer-eyes-assembly-seat.html
The condition of people suffering from poverty and disabilities has
never improved in our State. It is entirely due to the ministers who
want to establish them as a company. They fail to understand the
importance of the sensitive matters. I have been struggling to provide
justice to thousands of such people of the State. My determination to
help them will surely bear fruits if I am given the chance to
represent my assembly segment, Ghosh, a Below Poverty Line (BPL) card
holder and vice-president cum district secretary of Jharkhand Viklang
Manch, told The Pioneer.

Financial crunch did not allow Baran to pursue his studies after class
eighth but his leadership experience is appreciated by his fans. He
can afford to hold a campaign in every village under his area in the
evening hours since villagers manage to devote time after being free
from their daylong agricultural activities.

The farmer is eager to set up committees of 20 literate boys each for
various fields like education and agriculture to monitor the work in a
respective department at his own constituency. He said, I would pay a
salary of around Rs 4000 to 5000 to each boy. It will help in boosting
their monitoring job. I will not take the financial advantage reserved
for an MLA in a government scheme. This will ensure effectiveness of
National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and other farming related
programmes apart from those sanctioned for the education and job of
disabilities.

Also, he wants to connect his villages with Ajay River which is barely
eight kilometers far. According to him, none of the MLAs have
succeeded in providing water to his villages. He said, West Bengal is
hardly 15 kilometres away from my native village and Ajay River is
closer. Farmers of the neighboring state are happily using the river
water for drinking and irrigation facilities. We are not fortunate
like them. Our ministers have never heard our request for the river
water supply. As a result, till date we are forced to face water
crisis. Moreover, there is no cold storage for agricu

as it has been pointed out in the earlier mails from our friends, some

considered from the present notice is that they have said that this
photo-id card which they are going to issue will do two functions.
one, of course, we can use it for booking e-tickets. second is that it
can be used for booking tickets in the railway counters. the latter
one is not clear, since very recently railway has issued a new form
saying that would be a common form for all the disabilities. what
would happen to that common form, which almost all of us have. whether
it is going to be replaced by the photo-id card or we can still use
this one? beside all such problems/confusions , this is a welcoming
development in terms of accessibility, though it is very late.

[AI] doing timepass with fraud e-mailers without revealing personal information, is it safe?

2014-12-17 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi all,
I frequently receive e-mails saying that they will transfer x amount
to my bank account, I have won lotteries, and other timepass e-mails.
I know that they are undoubtedly frauds, but I wonder, is it safe for
me to irritate them as well, by writing e-mails to them without
disclosing any personal information?
I'd like to bore and annoy them with replies, but want to know if it
is safe. Will me replying to their e-mails pose a security risk?
I'll reiterate, I'll never share any genuine personal information with
them, just bore them with irrelevant and timepass messages.
Exams going on right now, so will do all this (if you say yes to it)
in vacation...

[AI] Query regarding JAWS

I'm facing a weard problem with JAWS. I just switched to Windows 8.1,

however when I increase the speed to 80/85, JAWS tends to miss out the
last character in the last word. For instance, it pronounces JAWS as
JAW, pronounces as pronounce etc. A similar thing happens when I
try to read a word. What might be going on here? Any help will be
appreciated.

Subject: Our Latest Braille Release, Browser and Email.

Obviously our latest Braille book, Browser and Email, is a computer manual.
This is actually an updated version of the old manual, Internet and Email with
Jaws. This new book has many more tips and tricks on using browsing and mailing.

This Braille book completed in one volume will cost INR 52. We also recommend
our recent manual Windows 7 and Word 2007 with Jaws (Rs. 72).

[AI] CSR guidelines

2014-12-17 Thread Dr. Vimal Dengla

Subject: CSR guidelines

Corporate Social Responsibility- Disclose-or-Explain mandate

Introduction:

In simple words, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the responsibility of
company towards society. CSR is attracting attention day by day. Like 'Swachh
Bharat Abhiyaan' campaign started by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is the
responsibility of each and every citizen of India, similarly Corporate Houses
are also responsible for addressing the needs and desires of society in which
they exist with intent to development of the nation.

Adam Smith a renowned Economist wrote in his book Wealth of Nations that
people engage in Commerce or Business out of selfish reasons or for their
personal benefit.

CSR isn't a particular program, it's what we do every day, maximizing positive
impact and minimizing negative impact
 Benefits of CSR :

As per Better Business Journey, UK Small Business Consortium:

88% of consumers said they were more likely to buy from a company that
supports and engages in activities to improve society.

  a.. Better Credibility
b.. Enhancing Goodwill of the company
  c.. Attracting the Investors
d.. Differentiate yourself from your competitors
e.. Provide access to investmentand funding opportunities
f.. Generate positive publicityand media opportunities due to media interest
in ethical business activities
Although Many Companies have already been engaged in approaching CSR activities
voluntarily, but new Companies Act put formal and greater responsibility on
specified companies in India to do CSR activities mandatorily to set out clear
framework and processes to strict compliance.

The Companies Act, 2013(hereinafter called the Act) has introduced the idea of
CSR to the forefront and through its disclose-or-explain mandate, is promoting
greater transparency and disclosure.

Legal provisions governing CSR:

a.. Section 135 of the Act
b.. Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Rules, 2014 (CSR
Rules)
c.. Schedule VII of the Act, which lists out the CSR activities, suggests
communities to be the focal point
Section 135, CSR Rules and Schedule VII has come in to effect form 1st April,
2014

Definition of Corporate Social Responsibility as provided in the Act:

As per CSR Rules, Corporate Social Responsibility means and includes but not
limited to:

of the Act or

(ii)Projects or programs relating to activities undertaken by the board
of directors of a company (Board) in recommendations of the CSR Committee of
Board as per declared CSR policy of the company subject to the condition that
will cover subjects enumerated in Schedule VII of the Act.

Businesses cannot be successful when the society around them fails.

The above mentioned Companies shall constitute a Corporate Social
Responsibility Committee of the Board consisting of three or more directors,
out of which at least one director shall be an independent director.

Section 135(2)-Disclosure in Board's Report:

The Board's report under sub-section (3) of section 134 shall disclose the
composition of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.

Section 135(3)-Functions of CSR Committee:

prescribed; and

(b) ensure that the activities as are included in Corporate Social
Responsibility Policy of the company are undertaken by the company.

135(5)-Responsibilities of Board of Directors:

least 2% of the average net profits of the company made during the three
immediately preceding financial years, in pursuance of its Corporate Social
Responsibility Policy

First Proviso to Section 135(5):

[AI] Request for suggestions for buying accessible microwave.

2014-12-17 Thread Dinesh Thole
Hello Friends,

I understand that this topic has been discussed before on this list.

However, I am looking for a microwave oven which can be used by a totally
blind person.

I am not looking for a talking microwave, but I just need a simple microwave
who's controls are accessible for us, or we can use some trics to use them.

I have seen some microwaves with nob type controls, but as such they didn't
give any tactile feed back through which i could understand the level and
tempreture settings which I want to set.

So I request your suggestions on some models which you may be using.

Thanks and Regards.

Dinesh Thole.
