Re: [AI] Scratchy and unclear audio afger waking laptop from sleep mode; appeal for Feedback to Saksham regarding pitch change on their EVO E5

2017-12-04 Thread Arijeet Patil
This issue is affecting my laptop too, though it doesn't happen immediately
after I have woken it up. I have realised that this happens most commonly
with Sapi voices. I have experienced this only on NVDA and am using Jaws
rarely. Is the manner of this happening the same for Jaws? Also, I would
sincerely like to ask anyone to give a feedback to Saksham regarding pitch
change on their EVO E5. For those of whom with a musical ear, you may have
noticed that the audio pitch changes with a semitone-based variation. I feel
it should change with a quartertone change simeler to the Victor Reader and
many other products that support changing the pitch. If the present lowest
and highest is to be maintained with this new change, I suggest that we
recommend to them to make the values on either side of the normal twice
their current numbers, expanding from -5-+5 to -10-+10.
Thank all,
Regards,
Arijeet Patil, 8th grade, Beacon High School, Mumbai.

Subject: [AI] Scratchy and unclear audio afger waking laptop from sleep mode

hi,
a strange thing with audio in my Dell laptop running Windows 10 version
1709 with the latest built and NVDA is causing great concern.
I have just updated to the latest version of the OS on Friday and have
actually begun using my laptop properly only today after that .
I've been noticing every time I wake my laptop from sleep mode, the audio
is scratchy and has a static sound when NVDA speaks. I have tried to run
JAWS 18.032 as well with the same result.
however, if I shut down and restart, it runs just fine. I have checked to
see all my updates are in place.
any ideas on why is this happening? I am not technologically savvy enough
to know all about my drivers and chips to sort this myself.
 thanks for any help.

Desmos is currently beta testing Braille support for entering and reading
calculations in our four function and scientific calculators. We would

functionality.

The beta versions of the calculators that include braille support are

International Braille Chess Association and General Secretary of All India

Born into a humble family in rural India, Dr. Jadhav lost his sight early on

became the first Blind Chess player to get an International FIDE rating. He
represented India on 6 occasions in the Chess Olympiads and World Chess
Championships for the Blind. He was also nominated Captain of the Indian
Team in the World Chess Olympiads for the Blind in 2004 and 2008.

In 1997, Dr. Jadhav founded the All India Chess Federation for the Blind

conceptualized and was the key architect of the 'TALK 64' a specially

accessible digital publishing to achieve a vision of real time access of
published content. He has filed applications for 8 patents so far in the
accessibility domain, two of which are already granted.

Being conscious of his obligation to the society and the need to make

It takes an awful amount of self discipline, confidence, determination and
dedication for one to make their dreams come into reality. Dr. Jadhav has
proceeded to exemplify this statement and thus, with utmost pleasure we
would like to present the NAB SAROJINI TRILOK NATH NATIONAL AWARD 2017 in

NAB SAROJINI TRILOK NATH NATIONAL AWARD 2017
BEST ROLE MODEL - TIFFANY BRAR
Disability is not a hindrance to reach the sky. Born in Chennai but
originally from Northern India, Ms. Tiffany Brar became blind shortly after
birth due to a retinal disease. After completing her schooling, she went on
to complete her degree in English literature from the government women's
college in Trivandrum in 2006. She then pursued her B.Ed. in Special
Education (visual impairment) from Sree Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda
University in Coimbatore. This degree helped her realize her dream project
of making the blind independent. This led to her starting Jyothirgamaya
Foundation in 2012. It was started as a mobile SCHOOL FOR THE blind, where
she travelled in public transport to the houses of blind people of all ages,
in the nooks and corners of her state Kerala, teaching and counselling them.

Tiffany has been running the Jyothirgamaya since 2012 and has trained many
blind people in Braille, mobility, basic computer use, and other necessary
life skills. She has also recently initiated a pilot project, Road to
Independence, which aims to conduct training camps in all districts of
Kerala in order to reach out to the blind in large numbers. She is a
motivational speaker and she conducts sensitization sessions for attitudinal
change towards disability.

Tiffany is the only woman in India to have given 5 TEDx Talks. Despite being
blind, for Tiffany sky is the limit, she PROVED this in her recent sky
diving in Belgium. She jumped from 4000 feet high. She has also done
paragliding, tandem cycling, rope riding, rope climbing, and wall climbing.
For her there are no borders for a blind person.

Ms. Brar has received a series of awards for being a great motivator and an
example for the youth. Some of the Awards are The Kerala State Award in
2012, The Women of the Year Award from Hope Trust in 2015, Bold and
Beautiful Award from Doordarshan in 2017 and the National Award for
Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities from Government of India in 2017.

We feel privileged to present the prestigious NAB SAROJINI TRILOK NATH

Along with the firm pillars of strength and support that are her parents,

Owing to collaborative efforts by regular institutes she studied in, like
