[AI] VIBEWA meeting at Chennai on April 15

2018-03-20 Thread Vamshi. G
Dear friends

We are happy to announce that Visually Impaired Bank Employees Welfare
Association-VIBEWA- is holding a meeting for blind and low vision
bankers at  Chennai
on April 15 from 10 am to 4 pm.

About VIBEWA at

www.vibewa.org

The main objectives of the meeting are:

Bring visually impaired bankers on one platform;

 Create awareness about various government guidelines useful for
visually impaired bankers;

  Enable visually impaired bankers to share  experiences they have in banks;

 Mutual learning amongst visually impaired bankers by sharing each
others’ positive experiences;

  Identify areas where visually impaired bankers are facing hardships
due to non-implementation of guidelines;

  Deciding future course of action of VIBEWA to address these challenges

In the past, VIBEWA has conducted a first of its kind mega survey to
study the working conditions of blind and low vision bankers in the
country.

The report was submitted to DOPT, MSJE and CCPD for action at their
end.  The report was also submitted to UFBU leadership at Chennai for
their intervention.

In continuation, this meeting is another attempt by VIBEWA to
understand the actual ground realities confronted by blind and low
vision bankers.  We believe
such meetings will enable VIBEWA to take future course of action with
greater strength and precision.

The meeting will be attended by  Mr. Krishnamurthy, General Secretary,
VIBEWA and Mr. Rajesh Asudani, President, VIBEWA along with other
members of VIBEWA.

Blind and low vision bankers across all banks and cadres are cordially
invited to attend the meeting, and more importantly, speak out your
experiences
to make the meeting an actual success.

Re: [AI] Feed back on trips with Bat travels

2018-03-20 Thread Subham Arora

I have been to one of their trips. I faced no problem. The sighted travellers
were more like friends than escorts. I had a good time chatting with them. Food
was served to us on the table. The property was accessible. I had gone to their
paragliding trip. So the pilots were, i feel, informed before hand. so he
explained everything to me. it was comfortable.
Everyone was more than willing to help. I am taking another trip with them.

[AI] Article - Differently-abled, not different

2018-03-20 Thread Prashant Naik
Umoja*

Besides writing the first wheelchair user's guide to Goa, the team has also
come up with the UMOJA card -- the first discount card for the
differently-abled -- which is a new way to experience benefits at
accessible restaurants, hotels, pharmacies, shops and more.

For this, the team worked with people with mobility impairments to
understand what their average purchases were in a month and the
difficulties they faced in the process of buying.

With those insights, it has put together a network of service providers
that includes Grofers, Swiggy and Pharmeasy who have created benefits for
the differently-abled.

"Through this, we want businesses to see people with disabilities as a
market and start making better products and services for them. When they
see thousands of people using this card, businesses will be able to
quantify this market and pay attention to it," he says.

Ps. is there any similar kind of tutorial for MS- Word or Powerpoint
available? if yes, how to get it?
