Re: [AI] Gujarat high court turns down plea of disabled students

2018-08-24 Thread Rahul Bajaj
The Supreme Court is currently hearing a plea as to denial of access to
admission in the MBBS course to a low vision candidate:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.timesofindia.com/home/education/news/neet-2018-sc-notice-to-centre-gujarat-on-student-with-low-vision/amp_articleshow/64610122.cms

Perhaps these folks should file an intervention application in that matter. The
court appears to have shown excessive deference to the executive, without
subjecting their determination to any scrutiny whatsoever.

sir,

Various books are listed but not available for download. We have to click on
"request to upload the book". I have submitted requests for upload the
bookd for around 14 books but concerned library doesn't take any initiate to
upload them. In "my download only request"
section of sugamya pustakalaya is showing these books as pending.
Second, if a person wants to get CD of any book, how can he order to NAB
Delhi directly? Library person demands extension number and he/she doesn't
entertain name search. Catalog is not updated by NAB as well as extension
numbers have been disappeared from their catalog now a days.

Hello,

Some time back it was announced that one can subscribe these newspapers on

that it just stopped renewing.

Wouldn't it be better if the circulation is resumed on sugamya?

Hi,

You can make it by stikking thin threads in a writing pad. Clip the paper
on it, feel the line with the left indux finger and write easily
underneeth. That is what I am doing.

All the best.

Hi,
For desktop, you can also use the free epub cloud reader, which
connects to your google drive and facilitates easy access to these
documents on web brouzers. It looks like its completely accessible,
although I haven't explored it much.

Gujarat high court turns down plea of disabled students –

Times of India

Aug 22, 2018,

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat high court on Tuesday rejected a petition of three
students with disability for admission in MBBS course under quota meant for the
physically handicapped. The court said that the candidate may be meritorious,
but the state government has power to adjudge suitability of a physically
challenged person to pursue medical studies. These students approached the HC
after the medical board and an appellate authority rejected their case that
they are suitable to pursue studies in medicine.
The first of these student Ganesh Baraiya from Talaja in Bhavnagar district is
of a short stature with height of 109 cm. His disability has been adjudged at
72%. Second student Muskan Shaikh is from Vadodara, whose amputated hand left
her 75% disabled. Third student, Hina Mevasiya from Jasdan town in Rajkot
district is suffering from paraplegia with having disability in her left hand.
She has been declared 50% disable, stated their petition. They placed reliance
on the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. A committee constituted
under this law has said that all persons with physical disability between 40%
and 80% are eligible for admission in medical courses. Opposing the
petitioners’ contentions, government pleader Manisha Shah submitted that MCI
(Medical Council of
India) has laid down guidelines about certain disabilities, which are not
suitable for medical studies and profession. The state government has authority
to check suitability of candidate for this stream. After hearing the case, the
HC said that the government was right in adjudging suitability of the candidate
for the purpose of admission in MBBS.

[AI] 21 disabilities under RPWD 2016 - Blindness

2018-08-24 Thread Ramya Venkitesh
Today, Newz Hook talks about Blindness,
one of the 21 disabilities that is covered under the RPWD ACT 2016. As per
law people are considered to be blind or with low vision if they have any of
the following conditions

. Total absence of sight or

. Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 in the better eye with
correcting lenses

. Limitation of the field vision subtending an angle of 20 degree or worse.

. A person with impairment of visual functioning but is potentially capable
of using vision for the planning or execution of a task with appropriate
assistive device.

As per the World Health Organization, Blindness is defined as vision in a
person's best eye with best correction of less than 20/500 or a visual field
of less than 10 degrees.

In India a person with a clarity of vision or Visual Acuity < 6/60 is
legally blind. India changed its definition of blindness in 2017. Before
that, for almost four decades since 1976, a person who was unable to count
fingers from a distance of three metres would be considered "blind".
However, now a person who is unable to count fingers from a distance of six
metres is considered disabled due to blindness.

India accounts for the largest number of people with blindness. As per data,
out of the 37 million blind people across the world, at least 15 million are
in India.

Sadly the data also states that 75% of these are cases of avoidable
blindness, but due to lack of awareness and medical facilities, the numbers
continue to grow.

No they are not. But it contains all the news released by the publication
on that say till that time. In a way it will have updated information till
10 a m of that day.

There are a few days when the newspapers dont give their RSS fedd properly
or there are some technical glitch then you might face some difficulties.

Seven newspapers should make you information rich.
