hi,
this sounds rather bizzare to me but, when working on opening a joint
account in ICICI bank with my sister, they seem to have an objection on
the
ground that i may not know if she signs a cheque and withdraws money since
i

am blind.
somehow, the same doesn't apply to either of my parents being a joint
account holder. doesn't the same apply to them going by their assumption?
i

did mention that it was my responsibility and would worry about the
withdrawals; but they want me to look at it from the bank's point of view
regarding the presumed uninformed withdrawals.
they are to get back to me on this finally tomorrow and they may just deny
me an account; or maybe not.
what i want to know is- should there be any such objection on the part of
the bank at all? the choice of joing account holder is a personal decision
independent of the bank's concern and choice?
any insight will elp. i am willing to drop the whole joiing account thing
totally, but need to drive this point home first.
if there is any contradicting opinion about this, from what i understand,
i'd appreciate information.
Thanks,
Payal

2019-04-22 Thread George Abraham
Payal,

My wife and I operate 4 joint accounts. The banks are ICICI, HDFC, South
Indian Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce. These are accounts where I manage
the funds mainly using NEFT.IMPS etc. Likewise all the accounts my wife
operates are also held jointly with me. The banks have had no problem.

Best,

George

The problem with any kind of ultrasonic dog repellent solution is that it
will need a lot of power to deliver a sufficient punch. I too have similar
issues with dogs and have not found any effective countermeasures.

Apps may work but that phone is one more thing to hold.

Re: [AI] Only Guest Session

2019-04-22 Thread Prajwal Keny
A guest user is logged in and I/root come over and want to do
something(say, copy a specific file from my profile to the guest's
desktop) which requires root and sudo seems to be the most convenient
way of doing that.
The most convenient way of doing this is to execute su [your
username]. By default root has no password and you can't use that
username, so use your regular admin account. You will then be prompted
for your password. You can then execute what commands you wish,
perhaps prepending them with sudo, typing your password again. When
you are finished using your own account's permissions, type exit and
they will be returned to their own prompt.

All you have to do is ssh into an account in the sudoers list on localhost:
ssh @localhost

[AI] ICICI Bank questioning my choice of joint account holder on ground of blindness

2019-04-22 Thread Payal Kapoor
hi,
this sounds rather bizzare to me but, when working on opening a joint
account in ICICI bank with my sister, they seem to have an objection
on the ground that i may not know if she signs a cheque and withdraws
money since i am blind.
somehow, the same doesn't apply to either of my parents being a joint
account holder. doesn't the same apply to them going by their
assumption? i did mention that it was my responsibility and would
worry about the withdrawals; but they want me to look at it from the
bank's point of view regarding the presumed uninformed withdrawals.
they are to get back to me on this finally tomorrow and they may just
deny me an account; or maybe not.
what i want to know is- should there be any such objection on the part
of the bank at all? the choice of joing account holder is a personal
decision independent of the bank's concern and choice?
any insight will elp. i am willing to drop the whole joiing account
thing totally, but need to drive this point home first.
if there is any contradicting opinion about this, from what i
understand, i'd appreciate information.
Thanks,
Payal

Dear member
For c++ You can use Visual studio code or Dev C plusplus. First preference
would be the visual studio code.
And for python moocs like Python for everybody on Coursera And introduction
to computer science using python on EDX is a good way to start.

Subject: [AI] A Resource for Blind Indian Students Aspiring to Study Abroad -
call for participants

Hi All,

I am hoping to help create a resource - a booklet if you will - of FAQs that
would be useful for Indian blind students who aspire to go abroad for pursuing
different levels of higher education. This would include stuff like:
information on the pros and cons of doing this from an accessibility and
quality of life standpoint; pointers for making the transition smoother;
obtaining reasonable accommodations for qualifying exams, if any; applying for
scholarships like the Rhodes; names of blind folks who have gone from India to
study at various universities, etc. this can be widely disseminated in the VI
community.

So far, Kartik has enthusiastically endorsed this project and shown interest. I
am hoping to hear from other blind people from India who are willing to
contribute to this initiative. Please reach out to me off-list if you fit this
description.

Best,
Rahul Bajaj,
Rhodes Scholar - University of Oxford
India and Linacre, 2018.
