[AI] RE: Reading and Writing Braille, GoodMaps, Podfriend And Widgets

2021-01-06 Thread Marco Curralejo
Hello everyone,

Welcome to this midweek episode of the Blind Tech Guys. We thank you for
tuning in and hope you get your tech fill out of this week's bonus episode.

Main Discussion on Today's Episode

Nimer and Marco discuss the state of Braille on Android and iOS, and we look
at the good points on both platforms, as well as things we would like to see
improved moving forward.

The team received email correspondence from GoodMaps with regards to Nimer's
demo late last year and we went through the GoodMaps emails and we look
forward to having one of their representatives on an upcoming episode.

Marco reviewed and demonstrated a recommendation which he received from a
fabulous new podcast called Podcasting 2.0. The
app is PodFriend, an app which a number of
listeners have been asking about on various email lists, which in its
current early form allows you to listen to podcasts on Windows, MAC and
Chromecast and runs us through how to install it on Windows 10 and shows us
that it is very accessible but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
We hope to get the developer of this app on to a future episode to talk more
about its development and to chat about when it will be available on Android
and iOS.

Did You Know?

Widgets are powerful. We discuss why widgets should be considered as a tool
in your everyday phone usage on iOS or Android and debate how much more
productive you can potentially be when you set them up correctly.

Listener Emails

We received some excellent listener emails this week, including a love
letter to Marco, and the team appreciates you for taking the time to write
to us.

To check out this episode, head on over to the Blind Tech Guys website,
where you can easily subscribe and listen
either on the website or in your favourite podcasting app, or you can simply
ask your smart speaker to "play the latest episode of Blind Tech Guys".

Warm regards,

Marco Curralejo

[AI] Regarding LIC policy.

2021-01-06 Thread Satguru Rathi

Hi all,

Greetings!

Can someone here direct me to the judgement/order which asks LIC to
treat blind persons equally while providing insurance policy to them?
And, is there any such direction for the PNB MedLife in specific? A
friend of mine is facing difficulties while availing policy. If there
are some orders from IRDA in this regard, that also could be of use. I
was looking on Eyeway website but could not locate the appropriate
judgement. the one I found has no text and neither it could be
downloaded. It was from Delhi high court from 2014.

With best regard,

Satguru.

Hello,

I would rather advise to purchase something like MI smart weighing
scale which can be paired with your phone to access weight and other
info i.e. BMI. It should cost around 2200 INR.

hi sudhakar
This is sivasuresh from Hyderabad. i have gone through all your
questions and I can say this requires lot of time to reply on the mail
about all the questions. I can help you with what ever i know call me
or share your number so that we can connect and discuss

On 1/4/21, Bandi Sudhakar wrote:

hello

on assistive technologies
so in this regard I want the sources for the following questions
please reply me of line or letme know from where I can get related
info,
questions are as follows:
How many softwares are there for the visually challenged.
What are the types of softwares.
The origin and history of each of these softwares, how they have
developed.
Who have produced. What was their interest.
Where it was developed, all these.
What was the medium of the softwares, why the softwares were developed.
Who are the persons or the company involved in the development of the
software.
Were there any visually challenged persons would in the development of
softwares.
Why did normal people wanted to develop softwares for reading. Are
these softwares are available or paid softwares.
If the free versions are there what are its limitations.
If the paid versions are there, what opportunities it provide.
Look at the development of each software, important changes. Software
development is a long process so what changes it under gone over a
period from the stage of beginning till what is present nowand
reasons for such changeswhat are the important changes occurred in its
trajectory or in its development process and what are the reasons for
such changes.
How many softwares have gone out of circulation or extinct. They have
developed but over a period they became extinct. What are the reasons
for there extinction.
Why some softwares have become successful.

In the second part:
What softwares are available in indiafor the visually challenged are
these softwares available visually challenged or others also.
How companies are moving towards audio versions like ammezonalexasiri
in ios devices.
So they are developing this, are they looking at visually challenged
persons in mind or others.
So when you are looking this works raise some sociological questions
like what class category, they can afford, cost, then digital haves
and haves nots what about them.

Who can access and who cannot. Who own mobile phone and who do not
own, who own softwares, is it possible for the softwares to shared
between the people. How if they cannot shared and how they do.
Now we will do crack versions so we crack and use pirated versions. So
how it is taking place.
Then what medium it is available. Language is a barrier is language
becoming a barrier.
How google translater or other translaters versions are helping.
Then rural urban differences, then accessibility interms of class.
Ease of working,
Comfortable.
People are moving towards verbal softwares rather than texting and
all. So why this is going so.
Then I asked to look at blogs, popular articals and articals in
disability studies collection.

You have to do on disabilities, assistive technologies, theoretical
perspectives and assistive technologies for visually challenged.
Then indian context what are the studies which are being done.
Then status of visually challenged among the PWDS in the country.
What is their employment situation. What is education background. Who
are they men and women coming from different background, economic
background etc..
