[AI] 'Learning of The Day' JAWS Power Tip: Adjusting JAWS Volume On The Fly

2023-09-15 Thread NAB Delhi Helpline
Do you find it inconvenient to adjust the volume of JAWS while attending a
virtual meeting or watching a YouTube video? In the past, you had to
navigate to the system tray and locate the volume icon to modify the JAWS
volume control. However, JAWS has introduced a new feature that allows to
adjust the volume on-the-fly.

How to Adjust JAWS Volume On The Fly

1. Press INSERT+SPACE followed by the letter V for volume.

2. Now use the letter J for adjusting the JAWS volume.

3. Next press UP ARROW to increase the volume and DOWN ARROW to decrease
the volume.

4. You can also adjust the system volume by using the letter S instead of J.

5. Use PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN to adjust in larger increments.

Hi Saurav,Yes, they do conduct workshops. The recent one I remember was on Braille (Not sure if it was by XRCVC though). There was another workshop happening this 14th, but the speaker wasn't available due to unforeseen circumstances, which has been postponed for now.apart from this, I've started telling my friends to include alt text for the social media posts they do for different Extra Curricular Committees, sometimes writing it myself, sadly I am part of just a single Committee for now. The good part is that they ask me how can we make it more accessible to other disabilities, what do you expect in an alt text if we write it? etc, etc. From: Saurav HegdeSent: Friday, September 15, 2023 9:02 PMTo: accessindia@accessindia.org.inSubject: Re: [AI] IIm alumni Hi Naman,Thanks for this information, you cleared a big confusion. This shows that there should be NGOs in other colleges as well.Do they conduct awareness sessions  in the campus which the sited can also attend?Very happy to hear about your positive experience. On Fri, Sep 15, 2023 at 7:54 PM Naman Parakh wrote:Hi Saurav,Yes, St. Xavier's is a college in South Mumbai, and XRCVC is an NGO within the college that focuses on making education and campus life more accessible for students with disabilities. Re: [AI] IIm alumni

2023-09-15 Thread Saurav Hegde
Hello sir,
Thanks for replying to my email.
The main purpose of writing the initial mail, is that I am planning to
organise a guest lecture in my college where we could host such a blind
person.
The thing is that, people in my college, mainly students are very unaware
about blindness and assistive technology which makes interacting that much
more difficult.
I literally had to record an audio clip explaining Talkback and share it on
my unofficial whatsap group.
So, my thinking is that if we manage to invite someone, who is blind but
still has managed to pass out from such premier institutes, works in really
good firms which everyone including the sited want to do and also use
technology and softwares like Word, Excel and even powerpoint, that could
really create an impact amongst many people.
Even in some places, the idea of blind people and technology has not become
common.
Many times when I am using my phone, people give really weird suggestions,
like touch here, touch there, etc.
That's why if anyone is interested, please reply immediately, even CAs do
reply.

Regards,
Saurav

Re: [AI] Regarding 0 balance FASTAG for four wheeler

2023-09-15 Thread Satguru Rathi
One thing is not clear in the circular though that if the existing RC is
converted to the Divyangjan category, the RTOs are insisting upon
getting the duplicate RC to reflect the change instead of issuing the
new modified RC and there are no clear instructions in this regard.
My concern is that if one has purchased the vehicle before this circular
and now wants to convert his/her RC, why would one want his RC to show
"Duplicate" when it is not their fault at all.

Hi,
While I appreciate the efforts put by the advocacy organizations and

Cases such as acceptance of UDID card universally, and this one where
Toll exemption is provided but there is no clear guideline or method

someone tried taking up these cases, the result is not as desired.
At Gulati  sir: the circular to record ownership under divyangjan

have submitted the paper under this category only as there is no other
category under which I can submit my papers. I believe that it would
be rejected as soon as I attach my disability certificate. It is quite
unlikely that I would be getting the 0 balance tag. I believe there
would not be anybody across the country who would be benefiting from
this exemption as I spoke to plenty of car users with visual
impairment and none of them have the same.

RE: [AI] IIm alumni

2023-09-15 Thread Naman Parakh
Hi Ajay,I also aim to study at IIMs, and currently, I'm in my first semester of my undergrad in management studies at Xavier's College, Mumbai.I have decided to research MBA institutes that I aim to study in, whether in India or abroad by the start of my second year, and develop myself with regard to exams and things that are crucial to get into a particular institute. I am very passionate about entrepreneurship, and business consulting is my interest. How was your experience at IIM Indore, and did you face any challenges studying there? I heard that IIMs focus more on placements, and their studies are more hectic. How did you manage it all together? I am already finding it difficult to catch up with a lot of things going on at college, leaving no time for anything else. Executive MBA vs. normal MBA, which one to go for? There is also this new hyped-up business school coming in called Master's Union, promising to teach management through experience. What do you think about it?regards,Naman From: Ajay MinochaSent: Friday, September 15, 2023 11:20 AMTo: accessindia@accessindia.org.inSubject: Re: [AI] IIm alumni Hi Saurav, Happy to connect. Hi,
While I appreciate the efforts put by the advocacy organizations and
individuals, few and few genuine cases are taken up and focus is
largely on improving the accessibility of the apps or infrastructure.
Cases such as acceptance of UDID card universally, and this one where
Toll exemption is provided but there is no clear guideline or method
to avail it are not taken up with the relevant authorities. Even if
someone tried taking up these cases, the result is not as desired.
At Gulati  sir: the circular to record ownership under divyangjan
without availing GST concession for all PWDs came in this February and
most RTOs are not aware of it and they simply record the ownership as
mentioned by you even if it is wrong as your vehicle is not modified
but your RC mentions it as modified.

I have been issued a full A4 size RC and it specifically contains the above wording.
Let's hope for the best when I apply for the same and will share the outcome.
