Re: [AI] Should we offer money as a tip to airlines staff or not?

2024-03-16 Thread minar singh
It is part of their duty to help us without money.
Yes, I agree with Mahendra's opinion that lower staf people expect money in
return for guiding us. I too have experienced this in my life several
times. Sometimes back when I was traveling to my office for an event in the
cab provided by the office, the driver started negotiating with me for
extra money because of my disability. I had escalated to the relevant
department and to my immediate supervisor. I had this type of experience
with an OLA cab driver also.

Re: [AI] regarding the watches which has where os.

2024-03-16 Thread Satguru Rathi

Hi,

Watches running Wear Os are fully accessible. One plus watch 2 has a
shortcoming though, that I have yet not found a way to access all apps
as they are not read by the Talk back but are accessible to sighted
people. Rest of the features are quite accessible. You can invoke
assistant by pressing and holding the rotating crown button and then ask
it to open certain app as a workaround. Watches from Mobvoi such as
their Tic series are also run on wear OS and I had one called Tic Watch
E3 which was earlier running on Wear OS 2.3 and has recently been
upgraded to 3.5 and is quite accessible. Assistant is gone though for
now. If you own a Samsung phone, checking Galaxy watch 4/5/6 would be
quite productive as they work better with their native UI. Fassal and
Garmen also offer wear OS watches but have no experience but Fassal is
soon exiting the smart watch business so would advise to stay back from
their watches.

Best,

Satguru

I personally think, one should not offer them any. It is usual that they are trained, and therefore it is part of their duty lower level staff expect, however, it is also that duty. This is more to do, that British introduced this concept in most countries. I travel a lot here in Europe, as well as once to India every year, and staff everywhere is well-trained to assist us. Hope it helps.  Mahendra Galani, With warm regards. [AI] Poor accessibility of Newsonair app

2024-03-16 Thread harish kotian

Hi

The newsonair app both on Android and IOS had a major upgrade. The
usability has dropped considerably thereafter.

DD is still lagging for providing audiodescription.

Would MA too take this up?

Hi all, on behalf of Mission Accessibility and Whose Knowledge, we are

and a set of six independent researchers from Pakistan, India and
Bangladesh.

We are looking for women with visual disabilities who access hindi
language content (primarily, and not English) and use digital
technologies. Together, we hope to discuss and articulate issues and
learnings for understanding how to create better and more accessible
digital technologies and multilingual online spaces.
We are bearing the cost of attendance and providing an honorarium as
well.  If anyone here knows of a woman/women with visual impairment
who consume Hindi content online and otherwise, please let me know! It
will be very helpful.

We can also accommodate out of Delhi participants and have the space
to fund travel and stay for assistants.
