Hi, also take up with IRCTC the discrimination which it has between physically challenged and visually impaired. IRCTC give railway concession to 40% physically challenged, but not to blind people. What is the rationale. While taking concession with local public bus transport the officer stated that more then 70% of population suffer with some kind of eye disorder that does not mean we will issue concession to all of them. On clarifying him that the certificate is only issued to those where correction in vision through any mean is not possible. He could not counter-reason this argument and denied to issue concession pass to one of my friend who was 40% certified visually impaired. Another point is that physically impaired above 35 years of age need not renew the online concession railway certificate if nature of disability was perminant, where as on the other hand visually impaired people above 35 years of age with nature of disability to be perminant as per the disability certificate still needs to renew railway online concession certificate after 5 years. Another thing they were issuing concession only according to the existing expiring date of such concession certificates issued by NGO's such as NAB etc. Also I was keen to understand the scientific methodology through which percentage of disability is decided for disability certificates. Do these government authorized hospitals have any formulae to determine the percentage of physical or visual disability, or it is just on their mercy and observation that such percentage are derived. Very well stated! We as individuals must write/talk to irctc and bring pressure from all sides. Organizations have take up in a proper manner. Atleast the writing part should be done by the individuals andnot be left to prashant sir alone to fight for all of us. We urge you to immediately get the website tested and retrofitted for accessibility. It must be made compliant to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0.
