Hi Bhavya, I'll be happy to help you out with this. Also, I'm not facing any of the problems that you mentioned, so they are definitely not because of Windows10. Hi Mukesh Sir, Somehow, this time, in Cortana and Search settings, I did receive some useful information, telling me that I was on the right track. But Cortana wanted me to sign in with a Microsoft account, which I have created, but for some unknown reason cannot sign in with on my computer. Please, would it be possible for you to give me a quick Skype walkthrough on some of this stuff, if possible? Please mail me personally if that request could be accomodated.. Thanks for all the help. Re: [AI] Cortana and turning screen off in Windows 10
hello, To configure Cortana: 1. Open the Start Menu 2. Search for “Cortana” without the quotes 3. Activate “Cortana & Search” Settings. A wizard opens in the Start Menu area through which you can configure Cortana. Within this Wizard, configure the following: (I) The first screen asks if you’d like to use Cortana. Activate “Next” to move to the next screen of the Wizard (II) The privacy notice is accepted on this screen by activating the “I agree” button (III) If not already enabled, Cortana needs access to “Speech, inking and typing personalization.” To enable this setting, activate the “Yes” button (IV) The next screen asks for the name Cortana should use for you. Input the name by which you’d like Cortana to call you in this edit field and press ENTER (V) Cortana needs access to your location settings. If the location settings aren’t enabled, you’re offered the option to open the Settings. Activate the “Settings” button. Here The Location settings window is opened with focus on the Change button The change button changes the status of location servicesActivate the “Change button” and toggle the location services on with the button. Now Close the settings and return to the Cortana settings via the Start menu (VI) With location settings enabled, Cortana completes setup and offers you an option to close the wizard with “Got it” or review the items tracked in Cortana’s notebook. I am successfully using it and love to work with her. On 6/11/16, Bhavya shahwrote: > Dear all, > I have recently upgraded my new laptop that came built in with Windows > 8.1 to Windows 10. [AI] Cortana and turning screen off in Windows 10
Dear all, I have recently upgraded my new laptop that came built in with Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Although my initial impressions of Windows 10 are not good, I would like to persist. Is Cortana available in India? If so, how could it be enabled/configured? From Cortana and Search Settings, I have set up my microphone, tried the I'm Cortana, ask my anything button, but without any success. Could someone please give me some basic instructions on just getting Cortana started, working? Also, I would like to turn my monitor display completely off, and the Windows + P and then Projector/Second screen only trick is not working on Windows 10. Choosing Second screen only by pressing it shows no confirmation prompt nor any practical effect, as a sighted person confirms. I am also facing other general issues, such as seemingly adversely affected audio, reduced battery life, Skype crashes and what not, all after upgrading to Windows 10, and if there is nothing major that I find out to resolve all this for the better, I may need to just roll back to Windows 8.1, though I sincerely wish to avoid that...
