Re: [AI] DTH entertainment services!
Maybe we can use your case as an example. The government needs a little prodding and that prodding can be only done by court but only after some proper documentation. Therefore I suggest we have a small research and drafting team. I have a backhand idea and it will definitely open some space for others to go in and negotiate solutions. Re: [AI] DTH entertainment services!
I think it's time to put the word to the concerned dept. as a few months ago we had an article published on dailies over the portability of DTH service using the same set up box so that such newly designed portable setup boxes can be built with accessibility features from the scrap itself instead raising this issue later after such boxes come into market. I think the matter should be taken to the information and broadcast ministry. As set top box is made compulsory they can force the DTH provider to provide talking set top box on demand. 1 more provision can be made that like gsm sim card we should be able to install any digicard in the set top box of our choice. I agree with Jorge sir, the digitization has put new challenges to VI community not only in DTH Matter but also in other areas of life. Still Prashant Sir and group of peoples struggle for Talking ATM is not over, we are facing the problem of inaccessible money deposit machines. Many of newly constructed buildings has the lift which has touch pad. New models of of ovens and washing machines has touch pad or even those does not have the touch pad and has physical keys they are not embossed. This would be helpful not only for visually impaired persons, but it would be of great help to the senior citizens of the country as well. Hi, Could someone describe the status and level and quality of audio description for TV shows and movies in developed countries like the United Kingdom? I know that there is widespread audio description in UK and something with Netblink in this field itself also transpired a while ago. I would love to know someone's personal experience, views, thoughts and opinions about this in developed countries and the possibilities and feasibility of bringing this to India as well. Thanks. Re: [AI] DTH entertainment services!
I feel as an immediate and temporary relief, service providers can atleast make the channel number and channel name be announced in voice along with the display of the same on screen as it appears on screen for a few seconds normally. Hope this is not a tedious job for the service providers as it is to do with the software and it can be updated as usually how the software is updated on our DTH setup box once in a few months atleast for those who request. In future all the features can be made in voice through the same software in such a way while displaying can read and hope this may not be expensive as it is to do only with software and nothing with hardware. Not only that, but also just like the local cable operators, they've also started shifting various channels to different numbers very frequently, that is why I've now stopped maintaining the list of the channels. - Original Message - From: George Abraham To: 'AccessIndia: a list for discussing accessibility and issues concerningthe disabled.' Dear George Handling two remotes was main problem. I bought a videocon tv with inbuilt dth. Now we have only one remote and the challenge was only remembering channels. I created a small list of channels we see and the job was done.
