Re: [AI] Device for identifying currency notes
If the transaction is high then I preffer to make use of other modes of payment. In most of the cases I feel safe with mobile / online platform. I do not keep more than, let's say INR 1,000 in my wallet usually during normal conditions, and as much as possible I avoid receiving money from strangers. I also take note of how much I have in cash using notex when I'm by myself time to time, and arange the notes by their denominations in different compartments of my wallet and orient myself with in and out of my wallet so that I'm aware where and how much I have, because I don't like to fumble with money when I'm paying out. And at the time of my face - to - face transaction with sighted strangers, as much as possible, I transact with more confidence but it is kind of tough when I'm receiving the money because I don't want to look like an easy target to be fooled around with cash. Having said that, I seriously think we need to have more accessible way of dealing with currencies independently. -Original Message- From: accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Ekinath Khedekar Sent: 04 April 2012 11:25 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: Re: [AI] Device for identifying currency notes Forgot to mention very potent trick of mine, I compare notes length and bredth with that of my wallet it self it has touchable lines on it helping me to confirm the lengths. Hi rahul, The device which is developed by Mr. Prashant is not an electronic device. it is like a signature guide which also contains signs for different currency notes. It is very much accurate. I have not used any device I just compare their sizes with each other and identify the notes. regards On 4/3/12, Rahul Bajaj rahul.bajaj10...@gmail.com wrote: Hi all, Are there any devices out there that can identify Indian currency notes and coins? Re: [AI] Device for identifying currency notes
Dear Rahul, As of now there are two devices. One of them is like a signature guide and the other one is like an envelope which you can keep in your wallet or bag. They are available from Saksham Delhi. You can call them and order for it. It will be delivered to you by post. As of now the cost is Rs. 30 for both of them. I am in the process of improving the design and material and will post information when the new versions will become available. Detailed information on their usage is available on my website at http://www.prashant.myehome.in/down.html You can download both text manual in English and audio guide in Hindi. Re: [AI] Device for identifying currency notes
The soiled notes specially the 10's and 20's are a pain to identify. We can manage the 100's, 500's and 1000's easily one is by the size and the other is that they smell better. The coins are next to impossible at times, I goof up with the 1's and the 2's always! Thank God that there are some honest people on this planet that tell me that you are givving a 2 instead of a 1. From NAB Karnataka I was told about Notex, a plastic card like holder that has demarcations on the side helping one to identify the amount of the currency in hand. But it was really tedeous to do as first you got to put the note on the device, make sure it is aligned correctly on it and then take a deep breath to confirm the amount. If you have to pay in change of 10's you can mostly use logic of the size and get by otherwise the notex is an hand and mind exercise in it's own... Being a late blind, I take my own sweet time in paying for what ever I buy on the go. People see me fumble with the notes and sometimes call out the currency in my hand to make things easier. Not fool proof but hey, that is as good as it gets. Re: [AI] Device for identifying currency notes
@Prashant, I am getting increasingly worried as new coins being produced are confusing in size and shapes. Some list members discussed about 2 rupees coin which resembles earlier athana. Now a days i am coming across a rupee coing which almost thick like 5 rupees only savior is that it is plain like steel 50 paise unlike actual 5 rupee coin. We got to do something before majority coins become inaccessible so to say. Can we do something? @Mujtaba Rahul, That is street smart Mujtaba, very good.
