Re: [AI] Introduction from a new member!
Dear Madleen, I appreciate and thank you to respond my communication. I reside at Bangalore which is the capital city of Karnataka a state in southern India. Here I am engaged in trading of plastic raw materials and manufacturing of plastic articles. May I know what do you and your husband do their? I have a number of questions in order to understand how the things are different in regard with visually impaired persons. Some of these questions are as follows: 1. How much is the approximate population of blind and low vision persons in U.K? 2. If all blind persons have the access to education and employment? 3. How is their social status? Sorry for trouble and thanks in advance. With kind regards, Gautam Prakash Agarwal President, National Federation of the blind, Karnataka Branch, Bangalore. -Original Message- From: accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Mann, Madleen Sent: 11 June 2010 21:06 To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: Re: [AI] Introduction from a new member! Re: [AI] Introduction from a new member!
Hello Steven, Warm welcome to this wonderful list. I hope it will help you to know more about your homeland particularly the status and conditions of your blind peers in India. You may or may not be aware that India is known for its hospitality people everywhere in India particularly in rural parts try their best to make the stay of their guest most comfortable even they don’t go beyond their might. So you don't need to worry in planning to visit India. You will be welcomed every where as per your choice and convenience. For the time being let us know about your study and status of the blind people in U.S in detail such as how do you pursue your study being a blind? Which medium of assistive technology in general are used by the blind students in pursuance of their study. What about the behaviour and attitude of the fellow students and teachers towards blind student at college and university? If it is also a challenge for a visually challenged person in USA to get suitable employment? What is the condition of social inclusion of the blind people in U.S society? Have you any statistic data about the population of the visually challenged persons in USA. What are the key provisions of the government for the support of the blind people in their empowerment. I believe that many accessindian friends would also like to hear from you on all these points. Re: [AI] Introduction from a new member!
Hi Steven, Glad to see another member from New York. But since you are from US, just a word about your signature line. Access India messages are accesible via general Google search and henceforth your US based phone number can easily be accessed by many unwanted marketing agencies and as you know, US is full of such agencies and they are desperately looking to tap in to whatever means they can. Just thought that you should know. Best, Vetri. On 02/06/2010, Steven Max-Faults wrote: > > > > > Hello All, > > I > just joined the list, and I thought I would write and introduce myself. Re: [AI] Introduction from a new member!
Dear Stephen: Why don't you consider Bangalore? You have a couple of wonderful special schools who are also open about having volunteers. A few of the NGOs from the city are also part of the list and am sure they would love to have you as a volunteer.
