Re: [AI] Update on Union Bank of India's recent initiatives on disability and inclusion

Hi Friends,

I'm curious to know that What other banks are doing for improving
inclusion of persons with disabilities? Why don't we get updates from
other public sector banks? Are Visually Impaired employees not
participating actively with the senior managers of a respective bank
in sensitisation process? aren't they responssible for their duties
for PWD community? I appreciate the efforts of Rahul because I spoke
to him personally.

Subject: [AI] Update on Union Bank of India's recent initiatives on disability
and inclusion

Dear List,

At Union Bank of India spreading awareness at various levels is one of the
vital activities which is being carried out to strengthen the pursuits of
inclusive and accessible banking.

Continuing these awareness initiatives on disability inclusion and
accessibility amongst the Bank’s officers fraternity, Bank conducted a session
for the batch of probationary officers who joined the Bank in June 2023.

During the session myself and Prashant Naik deliberated on the different
disabilities types and related assistive technologies. The session also
covered the various statutory guidelines issued by RBI, IBA and Union Bank of
India.

More than 1500 newly joined officers attended the session. These officers will
be posted in the length and breadth of the country and may come across the
persons with disability as their colleagues and customers. The knowledge
empowerment happening through such sessions at the time of induction is
instilling a culture of inclusiveness in the organization.

To ensure inclusive induction training program for these 1500+ new POs which
includes hundreds of new employees with disabilities, a train-the-trainer
program was conducted by team Union Access for all the faculty members in the
Bank.

Further, visually impaired officers who have joined the bank are being provided
with the induction training reading material in DAISY Audio book format and
accessible PDF. Bank has also empowered the visually impaired recruits by
installing NVDA/JAWS on their PCs during the induction training itself.

Early this week Union Access also conducted digital accessibility awareness
session for Bank’s IT specialist officers who have on transfer recently joined
the central office from various zonal centres across the country.

Union Bank of India with its strong commitment on accessible banking is truly
leveraging the principals of inclusive trainings and disability awareness.
