क्या बात है। बहुत बढ़िया प्रयास। क्या ये एक विश्व रिकॉर्ड भी हो सकता है?

[AI] a special marathon

2018-08-01 Thread Dipendra Manocha
Dear Friends

Sharing successful run of the marathon of accessible digital book
production at Tagore International School Delhi second year in succession.

You would remember successful event report last year where about 1300 pages
were prepared as accessible digital books in EPUB format. This included
scanning, two level of proof reading, structuring and compilation and
finalization of the accessible format book in EPUB format.

This year the response was bigger and larger number of students participated
in the event and broke their last year record by a large margin. This year
students converted 1897 pages of the following 8 books required by the
University Students:

1 Economy Polity And Society by Srefan Collini
2 Fields of Protest Women's movement in India by Raka Ray
3 Sociolinguistics by S.R. Anderson
4 The Oxford Anthology of Modern Indian Poetry by Vinay Dharwadker
5 The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
6 Translation As Discovery and other essays on Indian literature in
English translation by Sujit Mukharji
7 Women in the Third Reich by Mathew Stibbe
8 The Perishable Empire by Meenakshi Mukherjee

Soon, all these books will be available on Sugamya Pustakalaya and through
it on the smart phones through simply reading app.

Many congratulations to the team of Tagore International School and Sreeja
and Abdul from saksham to work with them to make it happen.

The school is keen to share their experience with other schools and motivate
them to do similar events there. Hope this movement catches up and more and
more of these marathons take place every year.

Considering the records available with us, just five of such events can
match up entire year production of many accessible book production
organizations. This is also very fruitful as the books are very well
structured and clean EPUB which can be converted to braille with excellent
results.

If any individual or organization is interested to know more about
organizing of such marathons, do not hesitate to contact Saksham team. We
will be happy to share our experience, processes and tools for the same.

Thanks
Dipendra
